I have a domain which has been penalized sadly.. the homepage rank was 1 and now it become 80, it's still indexed in google after a year.

    The metrics are:
    DA47,PA63,RD250,TF18

Can I still use this as a PBN domain since it's still indexed or?

Just because it's dropped to page 8, doesn't necessarily mean it's penalised, it could simply have links devalued.

Try creating new pages and see if they rank for super long tails, add it to Google Search Console.

If it starts to rank for other keywords, it's not necessarily penalised, and can potentially be used as a PBN, but add links to other website pages first to check if it improves or worsens their rankings.

I don't think its worth the risk. IMO, I will never reuse penalized domains as PBN because they were already flagged by Google.

Buy new domain.Redirect it with a 301 to new site, put old site on and use it as a pbn.

Once a site flagged by google means it is not worth to put your effort. Better to buy another domain. Start to rank with that.

Only one comment here seems to know what they are talking about. Definitely keep the domain. 301 redirect it. You may even still keep the ranking 301 redirecting to a new domain. If not then use it as a PBN. It still has plenty of value. If you are too scared though sell it to me I will gladly use it.

Basically as hobo going through the trash finding "plenty of value". He may be too paranoid to eat that rotting tomato, but hell, it will make the job done and worst case scenario, he will end up in ER. Similar story with this domain. It may get the job done, but why bother. There's a good reason it got penalized in the first place. It's algorithmic penalty, sure, but I wouldn't bother touching it further.

I have sites making 6 figures a year that were penalized by Google and I 301 redirected out of the penalty. Your analogy doesn't make any sense here. It all comes down to why the website got penalized and if there is quality links pointing to it. Keep in mind plenty of good quality sites get penalized from time to time as well. Never throw away a domain. You can always 301 the bad ones to a competitor site. Again if he plans on throwing it away he can send me a DM and I will take it off his hands.

The analogy imo makes perfect sense. I am not going to argue, it's super subjective and in the past, I had been using the domains with terrible history and possibly algo penalized as well without too many issues. Then again, some domains are just fucked. Point is, that nobody knows what the future brings and what will Google start targeting and from my previous experiences, I am rather staying safe than sorry. Took me a lot of time and money to figure that out. But if you are pulling that much money from those sites, then by all means, kudos to you my friend.
