Should I keep my kush 75k remote job or take a 100k in-house job 1.5 hours away?

I've been sought out by a competitor and offered position, in-house only. The competitor knows my boss and our operation.

My current job is very flexible and gives me time to work on side projects.

The new job would be first 100k job, but the first time in 7 years I will do in-house 8-10 hours a day. The rent in the area goes for $2,200 for 900sq ft apartment 1 bedroom apartment lol.

What should a brotha do? The drive would make me age like milk and I'd probably die of a heart attack, from driving everyday in LA traffic.

Gotta take the 6 digits, unless you can make an additional 25k from side projects working from home

I forgot to add, the 75k job does require me to drive far as well, just not as frequent. Only for team meetings. So it's not 100% remote job.

True that. I make chump change off side projects. So what you said makes perfect sense.

I've been in L.A. traffic a few times. I'd probably give up 25k a year to avoid it and work at home in my Star Wars pj's. But that's me. This is about you.

The best part is whether you're making 75 or 100, you're doing well enough to enjoy the luxury of being able to make the choice that makes you the happiest rather than chasing the highest dollar.

Hell no. Keep the first job. Extra 25k isn't that much and maybe it will move you into a higher tax bracket. And probably you could just negotiate a raise with the first job anyway!

Ask yourself, how is the extra income going to make you a happier person? (After the taxes and extra expense)

I wouldn't take it if i were you. More stress, more driving, bond to the office and might piss off people like your current boss which can be bad if you want to start new projects with him/her.

Money is a big factor, but not the only and most important one.

Holy fu*king sh*t, I just came back from LA and he gave me an offer I could not refuse. I was told to keep it confidential to my boss, which is 150k offer that stands until Monday. In-house. It's actually 120k with the 30k extra amount would be for an apartment near by.

My intentions for today were to just see if I can pitch him remote work. I'm still in shock.

I will be somebody's b*tch for now on, no more showing up late, coming home early, answering emails in my boxers. But then again, my performance sucked when I worked remotely and none of my side work never took off. I was able to complete projects but at a lazy rate. Thanks for all the responses!

Yea dude I hear you. Funny thing is, I was literally coached on what to say to my boss when I give me 2 week notice. Knowing that he will talk about "what about us being a family and growing together" or even offer me 151 or whatever.

This guy knows my current boss and pretty much said he took advantage of me for years while he made millions.

I'm hoping to leave off on a good note because my current boss is a heavy hitter with lots of money to spend, just not on his employees.

I'd give up $25k to not have to drive. I can make $25k at home on the side.

Knew a dude who took 2 trains and a bus to get to work. He had no life at all and was always tired. He left at 5am to get to a 9am job and then he'd get home around 9pm. Had a wife and kid too. It was terrible.

1.5 hours EVERY DAY and you give up your remote job.

I would keep the 75k job and ask for a raise.

Closed mouths dont get fed, it wont hurt to ask :)

Why are they offering you more cash?
    Can you deliver?
If you can then maybe you can get more from the current position if you say your thinking about moving....?

Yep. Traveling expenses including gas and wear and tear on tires and such. I have ride flats that cost me $400 each. Told one employer that they'd have to pay me an extra $20k for me to drive my car as far as they wanted every day. Didn't get that job lulz

Dude LA traffic is no joke, it one of the most vile things I have ever encountered. Plus no one got stinking rich from a 9-5. Also once you get paid that much alot is demanded from you, its going to be like slave labor. Sure you make lots of money but you dont really enjoy it. I would take it save a few months and start my own company. Specially if you are young and have no family

I'm 27 and have a wife a kid. I'm too old to start from scratch. I'm happy with the 150k offer. My boss is on vacay, I'm sure he will counter offer but I was instructed to keep pay confidential. My boss is a persuader and his competition knows that.

I can't make any good money on the side. My skills are just offering saturated services (web design, seo, etc...) i've yet to build any strong properties of my own. I wish I could be like some of you guys in here making tons of mula from affiliate marketing.

That was exactly my plan if today failed.
