I need to understand the best strategy. Let's say I want to rank well for the following keywords:

    Atlanta Bankruptcy Lawyer
    Atlanta Bankruptcy Attorney
    Atlanta bankruptcy Legal Help
    Marietta Bankruptcy Lawyer
    Marietta Bankruptcy Attorney
    Marietta Bankruptcy Legal Help
    Smyrna Bankruptcy Lawyer
    Smyrna Bankruptcy Attorney
    Smyrna bankruptcy Legal Help

Everything I read says you rank better by having the keyword in the domain, which means that I would need a domain for each of the above keywords - maybe atlantabankruptcylawyer.net, etc...

    The Questions: ,
    1. Is it better to go this route or should I try to rank for those keywords from one website domain?
    2. If I develop all of these sites, they will have virtually the same info except for different city info - will this be a problem?

You can use same domain or different, your choice.

    keyword.com or xyz.com/keyword.html.... doesn't affect much...

If you use same domain, you will have a bonus. You will have option of different anchor texts on same domain, you will be able to rotate anchor text, urls which will look more natural.

You will need different content, same article can be written thousands of times in different way. You just have to pass copyscape and present good information to visitors.

I think you can try to get ranked in top position for one domain with all keywords though the keywords are almost same and you said their virtual info is also same.
And also it will easier to maintain one site than several sites. If you can open different pages under a main domain for all those keywords I think that would be lot better for you.

Assuming you already have a method to monetize the niche?
Take that method and apply it to the long tail of search on SEPARATE domains.
You'll find that some will just rank better than others.
Once you see that, go to town on content creation and tweeking the hell out of the offers.

    best of luck

thanks for the replies - very helpful. Although, if the recommendation of a single domain is the right way to go, why then are there so very many posts and threads about having a keyword match of the domain being a critical piece. Many say it is the most important... But you say here that it doesn't matter much...??
