for example, should i go for "buy bath salts" or "best bath salts"

any bros know which keyword would make me more $$$ if i got it #1?

    using amazon/adsense.

not sure if i should trust market samurai's estimations for adsense

I would imagine buy. That way when people find you through search you know they are looking to buy the product as opposed to information on it. So it's probably best to try and rank for buy rather than best.

buy shows intent.. lower on the funnel.

best might be at the research stage and has not considered any particular brand at this point.

although if u had a good retargeting budget.....

    jk, stick with buy

    Absolutely you should.

Nobody will type either keyword unless they're researching a purchase, or about to make one and looking for the best price. To that end, indeed, 'buy' is the winner by far, presuming you can rank for it.

It's the same logic as local business SEO. If you're a junk removal business in Chicago, you want to rank for 'junk removal Chicago', because the only reason anyone cares where you are located is because they want someone local to do business with!

I would go with "best you can buy" ;-)
Really...why not target both to an extent...but I will say if you are looking for organic on this end having obvious KW's in your BL profile...won't last for a real long time.

Buy seems to be a better, but i would also check the top ranking sites strength before going for any keyword.

You don't split test a domain that you're SEOing.... lol!
So you're going to put twice the effort in, just to ditch one? This is not a proper use of split testing. Makes me think you don't know how to yourself.

    OP, go with 'buy'.

Good for direct related traffic but remember to include keywords that are not as related
to drive more traffic. Sometimes even keywords that are not as direct will carry nice conversion rates.

Try to rank both. You can create one page for each keyword or you can rank a single page for both keyword. (I'm not saying that your site should have only one page)
    Both are buying keywords.

What you need to do is do keyword research. Check the amount of searches for both terms and multiply by the average AdWords cost. That will give you an idea of which combo is more valuable.
