On October I looked for a copywriter on freelancer.
My need was 1 article of 2000 words and 10 articles of 500 words.
Then I hired a guy. He has offered himself to write this 11 articles for 80$.

Anyway as soon as I hired him he said that for my needs was much better to write 1 articles of 1000 words and 10 articles of 350 words. He said that people usually do not read large wall of text like the one I was needing. So I trusted him and I accepted 1 article of 1000 words and 10 of 350 words for 80$.

He did a really good job and I was really satisfied. As soon as he finished his job I said I was going to offer him another project like this one (1 articles of 1000 words and 10 of 350 words) at the start of November. He said okay.

So I prepared my 80$ and at the start of November I asked him to work again with me. But this time without previous warning he asked me 100$ for the project.
No problem, I accepted. He did a really good job with the previous one.

Again he did a really good job. So I asked him I was going to offer him two project like the previous at the start of December. He said okay.

So I prepared my 200$ (100$ * 2 project) and at the start of December I asked him to work again with me. But this time without previous warning he asked me 280$ (140$ * 2 project) for finish the job.

I said him that he was crazy.
After few days I managed to offer him 240$ (120 $ * 2 project) and he accept.
Anyway this time the first two articles he send me was a complete disaster.

He missed few instruction on the first article and the second one seems to be written by google translate.

So I let him notice all this problems and he started attacking me.
He said that I do not respect his job, because previously I said he was crazy. He also said that articles he send to me was good quality and that I'm trying to humiliate him. He said that because of that he is lacking the motivation now to work with me and suggested me to quit the job.

I don't know what to do. I really liked his previous job so I don't really want to get rid of him but the articles he is sending me now are completely trash. What would you do in this case?

I might be wrong but it seems to me that he was outsourcing the whole thing from the beginning.
That would explain the change in price and quality. So, if you ask me, hire someone else. There are very good writers for a reasonable price in the marketplace.
I know the searching phase sucks and you don't know who you can trust even after receiving samples, but this guy is no good for you.

Seems like he's outsourcing and not checking his writer's work before he sends it to you. Or he's being lazy. Either way, I'd get rid of him. He's being disrespectful and won't take responsibility for his (team's) actions. That's a huge nope in my book.

You should; His demand is increasing.
It's normal that He may did his first job for discounted price and later just went back to regular price. but his price is dramatically increasing.

replace him, and next time always clearly make an agreement about price before you even start.

As a professional, my advice would be to replace him. Not because of the added price, but because of the quality. You are the client here, and asking for work. If he doesn't provide what you need, there's no use hiring him, because you would have to redo the whole thing again. It is ok to negotiate price on the orders, but never acceptable to negotiate quality.

    Try another provider though.

You have to seriously ask us if you should get rid of him? Come on man.

I would put money downt that's what he did. OP was paying this guy too much in the first place as I bet he was average writer at best. And for that you should be paying $4-$5 per 500 words not $10.

So let me get this correct.....

You wanted 1 article of 2000 words and 10 articles of 500 words. He agreed at $80 = thus once you accept there is a legal binding contract formed.

HE then changes it to 1 articles of 1000 words and 10 articles of 350 words @ the same price, thus making you pay about 75% more pro rata than you already agreed.

At this point he is pissing himself laughing at how easy he manipulated you.

He then demands more money each time for the smaller word counts ( again not what you had originally asked for ).

As others have said, it sounds like he outsourced your work, then came unstuck when the good writer was too busy, so sent it to someone else or did it himself using a translate software or spinner.

Do a charge back using your credit card or Paypal.

Its a massive flag when you get quoted prices like '1 article of 1000 words and 10 of 350 words for 80$.'

Tends to end up shite 99% of the time
