I have some employees which I recently hired(Around 10 of them) which I manage through skype mostly. What do you think is better for topmost productivity?

Depends on the kind of people you have hired.

If they can manage themselves, and you have clear benchmarks and goals in place, managing them via Skype shouldn't be an issue. You won't need micromanagement (which is a big relief) and these people should be able to make minor decisions by themselves. People who are accountable won't slack off unless the system is very poorly designed. Let them work from where they want, at whatever time they want, as long as they get work done.

However, if you have hired people who expect instructions top down, you would be better off in an office. They will need micromanagement, and it would be better to have such people in an office. :)

I'd go for an Office, that way you can SEE them being productive...

I've learnt this from school group projects...... on skype not much is done, everyone just takes notes.. but when in a room together productivity is higher (because you cant just sit there someone will tell you to do something)

It will be better to go for an office. That will make it easier to interact with them rather than working over Skype.

Depends on how you pay them, if per hour - then office makes sense. If per project - no need to pay extras for an office.

An office should be avoided until it is a necessary to keep expenses down, with an office comes not just rent but all the other bills, plus like Apoory said you wont have to micromanage, if you need to have the people in front of you to get the work done right then you probably need different people.

Depends on the expense of an office to house 10 people and install workstations and facilities etc. Maybe there are cheap serviced offices ready to roll in your locale ?

Also depends on how far apart your staff are, how much you are paying them and how long term the project is.

If this is a permanent plan and you expect to be operating with this team for a decent time frame, then productivity and creativity will increase greatly in an office environment.
