When it comes to Pinterest followers mean nothing. Group boards are what you need to be trying to get invited to.

Group boards should be your focus, but at the same time don't ditch separate users and boards. Be strategic about your activities, follow those who can get you more exposure, repin your pins and in the best case scenario, become your partners and supporters. Alliances can be built there, not only a fan base.
