if you are asking to choose between dropship or amazon affiliate,
    i would go for dropship.
Being an affiliate for Amazon or Ebay or whatever is leaving your fate in their hands.
they can slash your commission rate, or ban your account anytime if they deemed you violate their terms.

OP you can be a beast with 3k in dropshipping if you know what you are doing, in terms of targeting high priced items etc..

with amazon affiliates, i know how it works. i do lack some knowledge in some areas, but i have 3 months time and i think thats plenty for me to fill the knowledge gap.
About dropshipping, i don't know much at all. But again, i have 3 months, and i know where to study dropshipping from.

I get that there is risk in both. but i am a newbie in this, what would be the best roi for me, because i have 3 months time to learn about each category. although i know tons about amazon affiliates, but still lack knowledge in some aspects.

    If you are learning, honestly
amazon affiliate is much better to begin first.
However, i would advise against throwing 3k in there.
maybe an hundred or two. but definitely not 3grand.

Start with KW research (if you don't know how to, there are excellent services in this forum offering them)
-> RESPONSIVE website design (if you have no idea how to, once again, head to marketplace and browse around)
-> Your method of driving traffic

    Not necessarily.
If your dropshipping from AliExpress. If they fuck you over, you can dispute (if they didn't recieve).

Aswell as most people sell products for low-prices. Less than $30. If the customer doesn't receive their product, most people won't bother doing a credit card charge back with their card.

thanks for the advice. lol obviously not gonna throw in 3 grand in there. that would be stupidity at it's finest. my plan was to buy a low competition amazon keyword, build a website around it ( on page optimized ) OR straight off buy an amazon affiliate website from here at bhw or i know another seller, then write some content myself, and otusource some of it. after that, start with SEO, now the off page seo part is where i'm currently learning. but then i thought, should i spend time learning about amazon affiliate OR learn about dropshipping.

Dropship all day. Plus, with products overseas getting better and better in quality (plus even lots of new stuff which are not yet that popular in the US/UK, the market is wide open).

Once you get a list of reliable suppliers, you're pretty much set.

Affiliates leave you without any propriety control over what you advertise and where you advertise. In a macro scale, you expose your business to so many risks imho.

    Exactly.

But to be honest, it's not lowering their commission, they are actually "fixing" their commission. I have local businesses and the 8.5% commission on TVs and PCs on Amazon (for volume sellers) bother me given the margin for those categories is pretty slim.

Now it's at 2% and 2.5% respectively which is about right.

I would go for drop shipping hands down. If you find a good niche, 3k can really set you up for some sweet growth and the margins are better.

If you sell a product with Amazon, let's say you get 10% commission for example on a $100 product, so that's $10 in your pocket.

If you drop ship a product from Ali and sell it for $100, and it only cost you $10 to buy it, then you've made $90 for selling a product of the same value.

Thanks for the advice, but will it be perfect for a newbie like me who has 3 months to learn everything about it. i mean, even what i will be learning would be just reading up and watching videos on dropshipping. plus i am fairly intelligent, i can understand stuff pretty quick and think deeply about them, but will this all be fine for newbie?

yeah i saw their new fee structure. i feel bad for the people who will now be getting less comissions, this is also one of the reasons why i wanted to reconsider going into amazon. but, my plan was to later flip the amazon site, and then focus on other cpa networks.

thanks for your advice! i remember someone telling me that ali express or ali baba take too long to deliever ( 40-60 days ) to USA or UK, and that people won't look forward to buying products later, to what extent is this true and how do people oppose this?

You can ship with epacket, 12-20 days is the stated time. Tho sometimes it takes longer, sometimes less, ive had products take 9 days, ive had products take 30 days. but most arrive fairly quickly

3 months is a REALLY LONG time in the internet space where you can study for 2 days straight then start applying/practicing on the 3rd day while continually studying.

Go with minimal purchases for cheap categories first if you want to diversify your money. And by the way, given Amazon's shakeup with commission rates, it's not that profitable to "flip a site" because they have just been devalued.
