    Hi,

So this is my story then. I wanted to hire a freelancer and this was my first time. I used one of the freelancers websites and I found one that had like 200 great feedbacks and had earned quite a lot and seemed to be good. So I wanted that he made me a Joomla Extension (plugin) and I explained all of the functions I wanted with it and even showed him a website which had those functions and all. I told him also that most of the functions would include facebook and he said that it was fine and he could do it and that it was an easy task. We then discussed the price and I could lower it to 50$ which is not much but I'm cheap(what can I do? :D ).

After two days, he showed me a demo and it did miss all of the most important functions that included facebook. I then told him and he was like "What you mean facebook?". I was like OMG, I have told you 100 times before you took the project and he said that I should calm down and that he would add it. He also said that he could not visit facebook because in his country, facebook is blocked. He also said that he would give me 100% refund if he could not make it.

I gave him 1 more day and I helped himl like 5 hours. In the end, he said hi was terribly sorry and that he could not do it. I asked him about my money and he said that he could pay 20$ back and give me the half made component that missed the most important functions. So I got mad, but I then accepted it, but then after I thought about it, I thought that he can't promise me doing something and even does not read what I said about the most important functions. I told him that I wanted 50 dollars back and that he could keep his stupid half made plugin. He of course blocked me and were offline. So for the first time in my life, I did a dispute on paypal and after 4 hours, he sent me the money.

But now I feel kind of guilty and sorry because he lives in a poor developement country. Should I feel like this? Was I an ass? He told me he could do it and promised me. I don't know, I feel kind of bad right now, Help me! :(

    Regards

You said you based your decision on his feedback and how much he had already earned. He was unable to deliver the project you both agreed on, and even told you he'd give back 100% of the money if the project failed. I'd say stop feeling bad.
He'll make more money, and you'll find a programmer to build you what you need and the world will go on.

That's what I wanted to hear :D I felt mostly bad because he came from a poor country but now that I saw his account on the freelancer website, it says that he have made 22k dollars so far. It's a lot ! and now that I think about it, I don't give a damn that he had worked with it two days and wasted his time, if he takes a project that he says he can do, then he should do it.

BTW, have found another developer which is so sure that he can do it that he gave me the option after that he shows a fully working demo :D AND he can speak english quite good compare to the other :p
