    Hi everyone,

Have been running an autoblog for several months now and over the last few days I have been reading a bit on Google's recent algorithmic changes that somehow will affect about 12% of current searches (correct me if I am wrong) and one of their changes was for sites that copy content, and in my case I am using articles from EzineArticles as auto-posts (EA also got heavily punished by the changes). So am wondering if I should either delete my autoblog altogether or start from scratch with a plugin that will make content unique and readable.

I am doing a paper on algorithms this year and it would be very interesting to get even part of Googles algorithm/s to look at. I am also doing a paper that has information retrieval as part of its content, and would like to make a search engine with some of my own algo's although I would have to ask supervisors for help as it would be a complex project and would need the use of the universities servers and creation of databases for it to work. Maybe it could be a project for the whole class to do, put people in groups of 3 for various components and have 3 team leaders overseeing things.

Are you running Adsense on your autoblogs under your real name? If no, I'd leave the autoblog to do it's thing. If yes, I'd look at removing Adsense and swapping something else in. This can be a tough decision if autoblogs are your primary source of income.

Don't delete it, keep working at it (if for nothing other than interest value) and keep building alternative stuff as well. The rule of thumb is: if a site is still getting traffic and making a profit over the cost of hosting and the domain, keep it up. If it gets penalized, abandon it - don't waste time trying to rescue stuff that will have a permanent black mark next to it.

If you're at uni then I recommend looking through a database like Web of Science for journal papers on SEs and especially SE spam related topics. You will learn a LOT - tons of stuff in there written by people who are currently working at Google.

You always run the risk of being banned from the Adsense program if you place it on an autoblog. Some people are smart enough to fly under the radar while others just get a new account.

Unfortunately, most people aren't smart enough to do either.

I don't know specifically how google makes the judgement on when to ban an adsense account especially with multiple sites. However, I do know that google is going to start banning adsense accounts associated with autoblogs.

Personally I'd go legit especially if you are using adsense. Autoblogs and content farms are in the cross hairs of google and everyday, google is going to crack down a little more.

There is more money to be made doing other ventures other than autoblogs.

I agree. An adsense account is too valuable, and it's too hard to get a new one, to lose it on some shitty autoblog that's not getting any traffic anyway.
