The guys is not only ridiculous for selling that name for 8.5K, hes also as greedy as a croc

That name is not premium and although the word taxi and hotel(individually) yields millions of search result, i dont think it would still be worth as high as that.

Now its a different case if the name has an established website, with backlinks, already ranks well and earns at least $1000 of revenue/earning monthly

I think the domain is worth at least $300

I agree with you, if someone would have a business plan for it then maybe it would be worth it. It?s just that when the guy asked me he sounded so sure about this, and thought I have to check it (with you guy?s/girl?s) and see if there were some if any substance in what he said/asked for.

The guy just think he?s lucky for founding that, and that he hit the big one. And I see that the bastard all ready put it on sedo?

The real value of a name is its value to its potential buyer. If this was part of a branding effort by a company and they felt it was critical to own this name, then yes, i think it is worth 8.5k. Buy if you're buying it to flip i think its a very risky investment and would spend that money elsewhere.

I would consider myself a domaining expert, Ive been doing it for years, I have a personal collection of over 1000+, and none of them are crap, and I am a respected member in all of the domaining communities. (No Im not Portillo any any of them)I wont say how much Ive made because I've already been vain enough but I'm willing to give free domaining advice by PM to all who partake.

a parked domain registered a month ago for $8,500?? LMAO!!

Yeah I gotta agree with tatoo here. I don't even see the development potential with taxiandhotel.com . What would be the niche? And its a bust for parking revenue or it wouldnt be for sale.
