I am trying to determine if it is best to buy an exact march domain as the main keyword I am targeting or use a different domain. The main keyword gets 1.5 Million Global Google Searches per month which is why I am considering it. Does having the exact match make it easier to rank on? Is there anything else I should be considering when making this decision? The cost is $20k for the domain so I want to absolutely make sure this is the right decision since that is a ton of money! Thanks in advance for any insights!

Unless you have Big plans with it, wherein you have all plans set, and want to use that domain as a BRAND, then go for it (Meaning you have the cash, the whole plan every tiny bit, the money for further investments into marketing etc). But since your asking this question, I highly doubt this option is for you.

If not, better of going and investing that 20k into Marketing/SEO for that website, buying a similar name.

Depends what it is. And what you're doing with it. And how much money you have.
Also, are you sure it's exact searches?

If you were serious, you wouldn't be asking where to invest 20,000 dollars, on blackhatworld.

I believe you are 100% full of shit.

You are about to invest money without doing your own research? This is a simple question, with simple answers... it can be found from simple google searches. Why did you feel the need to drop that it's going to cost 20k?

Don't buy the domain. $20k is too much, I'd recommend buying a similar domain name for $10 and then invest those $20k in SEO and marketing and other things :)

$20k?! lol. It better be super. I've got a 1,000,000 monthly searches domain, and it's not even close to worth that much!

This is part of my reasearch. I am not dropping any money until I determine that this kind of money makes sense to spend on a domain. I mentioned the price so I to get feedback on if this is a waste of money or not or if I would be better off spending this on SEM instead. Am I full of it absolutely not, the domain is owned by Marchex. The domain is for an online auction business and will be the brand and I am planning on spending a lot more on SEO/SEM but want to know if the exact term is getting 1.5 million searches if I can convert a percentage of these people into bidders.

It is absolutely pointless people hypothesizing over what they would pay for an EMD based on their own domains.

    1. XXXXXX.com gets 450,000 searches a month

    2. XXXXXXX.com gets 700,000 searches a month

    Which domain is worth more?

Domain A is Casino .com and is worth circa £10,000,000 domain B is TubeMap .com and is a pile of crap.

OP unfortunately you cannot DM or else I would give you a valuation. The only advice I would give you is that if it is possible to find an individual who owns a similar search volume domain in the same niche you are better off trying to negotiate with them first as you may get a bargain, as opposed to Marchex.

If the site is still ranking well and it's not powered by a bunch of 301's then go for it.
