    Hey,

Once I've completed my keyword research, wrote my article for a low competition keyword and let it breathe for a bit, should I be primarily building links to my website homepage or specifically building links to that article in order to rank it? Apologies for the newbie question, I'm new to this and learning as I go along - thanks.

id say majority to your homepage, with a few to your longtail keyword articles. This should be enough for the longtail to rank, if your content withing the articles is good.

If you are trying to rank your homepage, you can build around 50-60% of your links to the homepage and the rest to your articles.
Make sure your articles are properly inter-linked. This will help distribute the linkjuice throughout your website.

How big of a site are you planning to build?

You need to send the odd link to articles just for diversity sake as others have said so above. However, if you are building a bigger site, I would link to homepage & category pages (silo structure) and make sure they are set up so the link juice flows through to the articles.

I'd go with accelerator_dd advice plus make sure your pbn is secure enough because nowadays we can see many pbn's getting ddos so I'd suggest to check your pbn host.

A little bit of both works fine. Link juice is link juice at the end of the day, it will do good wherever it's placed.

You should build what would be considered "tier 1" links to your homepage and there should be a variety. Like web 2.0s, social bookmarks, etc. Then you should build links towards those links, which would be your "tier 2" links. Make sure to incorporate social signals within those links as well.

The bonus of linking internally is that if the links go bad and you cant remove them you can 404 the page and loose the links that way
