Hey guys,

So I have a jobs board website that I am trying to rank in Google. I was wondering if I should build backlinks directly to my homepage which essentially is just the jobs board with no article content, or should I create an "introduction" page where I write an article with keywords and build backlinks to that? If I build backlinks to my homepage, will I be able to rank for keywords despite not having any content on the page?

normally any website should have a good amount of links pointing to the homepage,
start with some branding links first, then add a few main KWDs,
for the split %, check how's your competitors

So if I push links with branded anchor like "jobs in _____" to homepage, will I eventually start ranking for that keyword?

For a natural link growth the homepage links are essential, people would typically link to your homepage the most. Thus mimicking that behavior with your bought links is also a good idea like others pointed out.

It would be good if you build homepage links. Just use the keywords you want to rank for as anchor texts and you would be good.

Yes, build backlinks to the homepage, you can start with brand anchors and maintain proper interlink for link power to pass other pages too. You can build links to inner pages if they match with their context.

Yes, landing page backlinks are still significant. ... Connections that highlight your landing page will eventually profit your whole site, and it's commonly the landing page that gets the most visits (direct, referral and natural).

Of course, you need to build authority and trust and for that, your site should have links to the Homepage as well as some to info type posts.

one thing to look at
search for "technology jobs in central florida"
first position: https://www.indeed.com/q-Information-Technology-l-Orlando,-FL-jobs.html

based on majestic, the homepage has this

the url ranked for first position, first position: https://www.indeed.com/q-Information-Technology-l-Orlando,-FL-jobs.html, has this:

so shit load of backlinks to home page and targeted backlinks to inner pages......

hope this helps

Yes, Although it doesn't matter for rank and you can build backlinks for your home page.

80/20 rule
80 - homepage
20- rest of the web

Go for Homepage links! Don't waste backlinks on job posts because they have a limited time of availability.

Yes, build most of the backlinks to your homepage. In fact 80% of them I believe gives more authority and you will rank for many LSI keywords and your other pages would be picked up on search engines genuinely. Use brand name and different variations of your naked URL only.
