Should I be worried about SPAM users account

    I am getting new account every minute, obviously from some kind of bot. Should I be concerned, willl this affect my Wordpress site is there is too many.

    Are they comming from the same IP ?

    No. but when searching for them via google - they look like they have been flagged before. I have used plugins to attempt to stop this, but found it also bans legit users.

    Do you use Captcha for registration?

    Yes, but makes little to no difference.

    Wordfence? Thats seems to catch a lot of bots for me.

    Thanks people, ill give it ago, but could I ask if this is a problem, what effect would it have on the site but not blocking spam account, the users have no way of posting.

    It's pretty common for wordpress but I wouldn't take it lightly. The spam accounts are prob just tester accounts to have a look inside, if they aren't/can't post anywhere. IF you start seeing a lot of bots though there is every chance they will be trying to guess your password and once they manage to brute force a way in they could cause all sorts of havok, possibly even installing something that you would have no knowledge of hidden from you!

    Get wordfence up and running and set the bot settings following along with the info tips. Don't have your administrator account named as "admin" make it something obscured and don't post articles with it. Make sure file permissions are set as well but wordfence will warn you of that if you haven't. ;)
