I do loads of websites and rank them slowly for longterm however they have BH link profiles related to hacks/cracks so I don't know if I should add them to webmaster tools to know if I get penalization for thin content and such

Don't do that, If you add webmaster tools to your sites, then Google will smell the fishy source of traffic you get from the black hat methods you follow. Google webmaster tool will be good to your sites when you don't follow black hat techniques.

I dont do it, and I will never do. Dont give Google info to make easier for them to track your projects, It will hurt more than help.

Avoid GWT. You may never get caught but you will never be far from their eyes also so risk is much bigger than reward here.

Hi,
Like they said, if your sites aren't "clean" don't do it, adding them to webmaster tools will only give Google more information that they can use against you.

I don't use it personally, but it does give you useful info. It CAN be used on blackhat sites, but you should NEVER EVER have all your sites under a single GWT account. If one gets manually nuked then there's a chance that they'll review your entire account and shitcan your other sites too. But as I said, you could use it and not risk all your sites. The way you can do it is to have one GWT account for each site, using different e-mail addies and details for each. Also you need to use different IP's for each one, ideally through a VPN. You could use proxies, but chances are that it will raise a flag if you log in using only proxies all the time.
