I can't decide whether to add a privacy policy to each of my blogs. I have read in some places that Google detecting a privacy policy can help in organic search results but there seems to be mixed opinion on this.

Also, I would want need to make the policies unique to prevent my blackhat sites being linked to each other so it wouldn't be as simple as copy/paste.

Do you think it is worth doing or not?

    Thank you,
    Matt

Most people do it because they use adsense, I'm pretty sure it won't help in the serps.
I wouldn't bother making them unique, just make sure the contact details / site info are right.
There is a wp-plugin which has default legal pages. WP Policies.

If you are running Adsense on your sites, I believe it is a requirement. I have never really considered it other than that.

Thanks for your responses - just to confirm I am not using Adsense on the sites.

I read in a couple of places that it could potentially help in google search results as the site would be considered better authority if it has a privacy policy. I guess it would be simple enough for google to automatically detect if a privacy policy is in place.

The reason I mentioned making them unique was that if one of my sites got banned from google I didn't want there to be a footprint (a duplicate privacy policy) linking it to another of my sites on a different server to be banned.

    Thanks,
    Matt
