While being active on this forum, you have the ability to accumulate followers. This option, gives you a chance to create an audience and interact with people who share interests with you.

If no, explain why?

Question:

Should your followers be notified when you create a new thread on BHW? Currently, your followers are not being notified of your posts. Should we change this?

MY VOTE: YES

Why:
I believe if someone chooses to follow your account, that means they are interested in the content you post and would want to be notified someway. Agree or disagree?

Staff take Poll Votes seriously. Please do so yourself. Doing this would not only increase your engagement on future posts, but also could improve conversions.

Now i know how to vote for your poll quickly.
I can do this all day. Loving your threads.
And all your followers would love yours as well. It would be a good valid change if we would agree it would be a positive one.

As an automatically-enabled option for all followed members, no, that would fill up the notification panel much too quickly.

What I would like to see is an opt-in panel similar to the 'watch forum' panel, where people could choose to be notified for all messages, only new threads, or nothing at all.

This is what i was thinking. How a user find good posts from thousands daily. If he is following 100 users.

I'm pretty sure that if those that follow me got a notification whenever I posted they would draw and quarter me as most of the stuff I post these days is mundane at best.

I do think that there might be some value in having the option to have a max of, say 10 members (just an arbitrary number), on your auto alert list but, again, I cannot see anyone wanting to see my posts show up in their alerts.

There are some members that I would actually like to get an alert when they post as those folks offer more value than I do these days.

i wish there was an option to hide every single post of some people

I think this would be annoying
Your probably right. I mainly opened this discussion because previously we talked about how followers were "pointless" on BHW. Just curious to find more ways to make them not "pointless". They provide value of course in my opinion, but I was curious to see what other thought! Thanks for the explanation!

I am super interested in what you will vote. Only if I got notified about these things if I followed you.

Its going to cause problems and there will be too many notifications.

This has been left up for a while now, but it should be said that the resources required to implement and manage this feature would be too much of a resource drain considering that not many members seem to think that this is a necessary feature.

If this comes up in the future and more members are in favour of it, it could be a possibility. For now, this isn't something that we can add to the forum.
