Shopify or Wordpress/Woocommerce

This is an awesome Thread, thanks for all the input and ofcourse more posts are welcome. Lets try to keep this thread active for all ecommerce newcomers wonderinf which is better.

Iv used woocommerce for some time now playing around but havent used it as a proper business model yet.

I personally find it easy to use with tutorials being readily available on Youtube. The fact that theirs not a particular P/M to keep it active a good thing because from research and also posts above have found out that shopify can close your website if you dont keep up with their ToS.

See, i want to use wordpress/woocommerce for my clothing line which will have hundereds of clothing in the future with different variables aswell as potential and active customers going in and out the website and aswell as this they will have the chance to sign up to the website, i will also have an affiliate program for influencers. My question is will wordpress/woocommerce keep up with the demand? Or does this depend upon my hosting provider?

One thing i have also noticed is that nearly EVERYONE has a problem with Stripe, ofcourse i have done my own research and also read posts above so im just wondering what the best alternative is? I am not looking to use PayPal as they are as bad as Stripe (iv had bad experiences with PayPal)

Magento is a no go zone, looks difficult as shit.

This depends on your hosting plan you chose.
Even if you are starting out it's better to go for a vps not only to be sure that your store will not have bottlenecks but to have the ability and flexibility to test more stores on your server.
Me for a example i pay 6$ /month for a managed ssd vps (3 cores,6gm ram) and i do tests all the time plus you can host several store and running them smoothly with one server, this saving you lot of $.
If you search on the forum or google you will find a lot of lifetime discounts.

PS For extra saving dont buy domains from your hosting,me example i buy from namecheap (.COM 8$ usally) this saves you extra bucks!

Im currently using hosting provided by 1&1 which powers Wordpress within the system. Im just hoping that it has the power to hold up during large amounts of traffic and orders etc etc. Will be a downer if the server fails and website is shut down due to traffic etc etc.

Im on the search for a particular domain which i want but its being sold for around 4.5k privately. I assume because it is being sold privately i will not be able to purchase from namecheap for a cheaper price, right?

I don't know in this case if you can buy it cheaper i always buy new domains

Unless you like spending unnecessary money, if you have half a brain you should just use Woo. It's not that hard to use.

Yes, iv been speaking to the owner via email positively, i will buy it when the time is right.

I dont suppose anyone knows how to hack a IG account? Lol. Theirs a particular handle i want but the guy isnt budging he doesnt want to sell it!! My current handle has the exact name but has a secondary word added in but ideally i want just that particular handle he has. Smh.

Didn't understand exactly what you mean bro but if don't find a domain name for your store just sit back grab a beer and brainstorm!! do not get tired with these things

fuck, WP is turning into another Shopify. Back in the day I didn't have to pay for plugins, now you gotta buy the business plan to get any plugins. You need to upgrade to get the WP logo out, to change the script, and to remove the ads too.

I've been using shopify for years.
2 months ago I decided to never go back to shopify

Why ?
ONE REASON .. the apps (plugins) are sooooo overpriced and charge monthly on top of all ..

Use wp ..

You can get a website that hosts wordpress for like $7 a month, dude. That includes unlimited items on your Woo store. That is nothing like what Shopify swindles from you, which can be hundreds of dollars a month depending on what you need.
