    Hello!

I would like to log My Journey with Shopify.com going from 0 to 1 sale per month using only organic sales and marketing options (I will not be spending money on merchandise or advertising).

    # MOTIVATION FOR SHARING
    #-------------------------------------------------------------

I have found the My Journey's to be motiviational. I would like to contribute to that cause. Also, it will be an accountability matter, to keep updating the thread. If this journey goes well, I would like to consider doing another that lays out as much as I can without skewing the numbers.

*** Side note: It is personally frustrating that these journey's never share domain names, or social media account names, or anything that we can look at on our own. I do understand that we do not want to turn these journey's into backlinks or generate false-traffic (through BHW viewers) which would then bump other analytics off. There has to be a balance though. When I read my journey threads and the original poster says, made $XX,XXX more this period than last period, or have X,XXX more followers this week than last week, that is great, and I am happy for them, but where is the value gained apart from the conceptual motiviation I personally squeeze out of the thread? The real question is how can we take this journey together, learning from it together, and growing from it together?

    # BUSINESS TYPE AND GENERAL INFORMATION
    #-------------------------------------------------------------

Shopify online store in the retail, "luxury", jewelry space. The price-point for the products being sold on the Shopify site currently range from $500 (USD) to $26,000+ (USD).

    # RESOURCES AVAILABLE
    #-------------------------------------------------------------

Will be using the following: GMail (for free e-mail address, and access to other free Google services (Analytics, Search Console, Adwords, Voice, Etc.)), a domain registrar, Shopify (hosting and handling e-commerce), Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Wordpress (possibly), Windows 10, Ubuntu Linux 16.04/18.04, Snipping Tool (Windows), Gimp (Ubuntu), Google Android Pixel telephone, Black Hat World (ideas, updates to this thread).

I am using Windows out of convenience, basically because it is what is available when I have opportunity to work. I mention this because the intent here is to utilize as many free resources as possible. Everything I am using Windows for can be done in some Linux variant, especially Ubuntu.

The budget for this project is difficult to track here. I can easily track it, but I am just not willing to share some information related to product costs. Some of the items being sold are free to me until I sell them, perhaps similar to how dropshipping works, but these are one of a kind pieces. This part does require some in-person negotiating and establishing trust with vendors and other items which are beyond the scope of this My Journey thread. I am paying for a "Basic Shopify" account on Shopify.com which is currently listed at $29/month. I am paying for three internet domain names which is around $10 each/year.

    Facebook: 1 follower
    Twitter: 6 followers
    Instagram: 17 followers

I will provide some images for you to see the traffic to the site:

So far, my approximate finances/expenses/sales are:

$0 computers used are owned already
$0 telephone used is owned already
$0 foldio3 photo studio is owned already (cost ~$140)
$0 foldio360 turntable is owned already (cost ~$140)
    $-30 domains
    $-30 shopify
    ==========
    $-60 total

    # MONETIZATION
    #-------------------------------------------------------------

Sales will be generated solely through the Shopify website. If I can sell them on a 3rd party site, it will simply be via a link of some type that goes back to the Shopify site.

My goal is not very astounding. I want to make 1 sale per month, perhaps for a few months just to ensure the pattern exists. Once I hit that goal, this particular journey will be over, and I can then consider a new journey to maybe double the number of monthly sales!

I was going to provide some images for you to see the, current, lack of sales from the site, but BWH requires I provide a URL for these, and I am not at a place where I can upload images to one of my sites .... So, for now:

Between 8/6/19 - 11/6/19 there have been 8 total clicks from Google SERPs, 1.59K total impressions, 0.5% average CTR, and 44.4 average position.

Google Search Console shows 104 total keywords in queries, with the first ten queries receiving 0 clicks. The top query has 166 impressions, then 153, 115, 92, 84, 71, 52, 30, 30 and 21 impressions.

The Devices used to see my site so far are 4 clicks from Mobile, with 609 impressions; 3 clicks from Desktop, with 974 impressions, and 1 click from Tablet with a whopping 11 impressions.

There are 92 dates listed, but the first 10 rows go back to OCT 29, 2019, until NOV 4, 2019. There was 1 click on NOV 4, with 16 impressions that same day! Zero clicks all the other days.

There are 61 pages listed in Google Search Console, and only five pages are generating clicks (3/18, 2/163, 1/262, 1/43, 1/38 clicks/impressions respectively).

    #-------------------------------------------------------------
    # STRATEGY
    #-------------------------------------------------------------

Place items into the Shopify store inventory, post about the item across all social media accounts, work with select businesses to link to the Shopify store and social media accounts. Utilize the blog on the Shopify store and promote any articles as well. I am guessing the key ingredient will be keyword selection for hashtags as well as consist content generation.

I am not going to be paying Facebook for advertisements. I am not going to be paying Google, or Twitter, or so called influencers, or anyone else for that matter for posts, content, advertisements, leads, follows, or anything beyond operational costs like the domain, hosting, costs of merchandise, and some transaction fees.

    #-------------------------------------------------------------
    # SUB-GOAL #1: GENERATE FIRST SALE
    #-------------------------------------------------------------

Of course to begin this journey I need to generate a first sale. This may be among the biggest challenges facing most online businesses.

    #-------------------------------------------------------------
    # UPDATES
    #-------------------------------------------------------------

I am going to aim for no less than one update per month. This will align well with the goal, and will allow me some breathing room. If I can login between updates, I can respond to questions, comments, and rants.

    Thank you, and yes.

I have been doing technology related work since the early 90's. I have a few other businesses and oversee or directly handle marketing for those businesses.
