I was looking at competitor's store and noticed that it was down with Shopify error message to contact their support. I've googled the error and came across Shopify forum posts which talk about it. It was posts by many people who said their stores just suddenly went down without any notification and their support was not responding and people resorted to posting on the forum.
Most people never posted outcome of their problem but one guy was going back and forth with Shopify support in his forum thread. His store was closed after he changed his payment method and he was previously using debit card for 1.5 year. In his exchange with Shopify he mentioned using debit card and they told him that technically debit cards are not allowed but they do work like credit cards. They said that if there would be payment issue due to it being debit card they would not be able to troubleshoot. Eventually he received answer from support team (not whoever was talking to him on web forum) that his account was closed for violation of TOS and no further information given.
From what the poster shared publicly his Shopify store contained Amazon products via Shopify app that he paid for. This app syncronized select products from Amazon and displayed them on his Shopify store. If someone were to make a purchase it would redirect them to Amazon and Shopify was just a platform for landing pages where he drove his paid traffic.
Have you heard of weird reasons Shopify closed other stores?
