Shooting for the Moon - My Journey to Riches Hello! This is another one of them "my journey" threads. I've not set a specific target like £10/day, £100/day, £1000/day as they are my milestones, not goals. My goal is the moon. I'm happy making a comfortable living, but I'd also like to support my family for the future, but all told, I want riches. I want to be able to do what I want, when I want. No more renting, borrowing money, working a job for someone else and generally being a slave to society. Why start a journey thread? Well, I suppose having it down publicly (rather than in a private WP blog) will sort of spur me on a bit. It's also nice to be able to share my thoughts with a load of like-minded people. And when I've made my monies, I'll have a log of what I did, on the forum where I learned it all from. It also might be useful to others, and I'll probably post links to questions I've asked and services I've bought here at BHW. Pretty much 6 months ago, I set up my first "proper" website (apart from the few random sites I've had over the years) with a view to make money. I've been reading here for quite a while (I did have a different username here for the past few months, but I had to abandon it as I stupidly used one that I use everywhere else - very very traceable). So this website's been making me between £0.60 and £3.00 per day from ~200 views p/day. Not much, but I did pick a rubbish niche, but that's all organic traffic from Google, with no back-linking (well less than 5 blog comments at the start when I didn't know better). It's something I'm very interested in the long run, as I did my final year university project on it (it's a piece of technology), but it's a pants CPC and not much (advert) competition. It also requires me to do a lot of technical articles, which will require images and videos personally made by me, which is a bit time consuming. This site's sort of on the backburner for the moment, but when I get a load of time will be very lucrative (but not via AdSense). The New Site Sooooo! I've started on another site! This one started off as me aiming for a MNS, but I combined a few keywords and am going for 1 large niche. I'm aiming for long tails in the articles rather than being #1 for a ridiculous keyword, and social virility in the articles. Luckily the articles for this niche don't require much more than words and a bit of thought. I've brought the missus on board for content writing. She's got a degree in creative writing (handy or what!?) and the first lot of articles have been done at a rate of 4 per hour. They have been pretty much re-writes of PLRs etc., but as it's a niche she's very interested in, she's been adding her own bits and the articles are pretty awesome. I've set the site live, and am editing the theme as I go along. I've put up 10 articles, and have the rest scheduled for 1 per day (I back-dated the 10 articles to appear like they were posted once a day). At the moment I've just grabbed some images off Google image search, but will buy some stock photography when we have a nice amount of articles and a trickle of traffic (don't want to get fooked now from copyright! Also just edited robots.txt as I realised they would be searchable!) I've registered the name with Facebook and Twitter and set up auto post to them. I've set up a Google+ page for it, and a YouTube page linked to that. I've also set up a Pinterest business profile, but I don't have a f***ing clue what to do with it (but I heard it's good for rich middle aged women, which fits my niche nicely ). The plan for now is to just add an article every day (or more if she creates too many and it ends up too far in the future), and get the site's design and structure up to the standard I want. I'm having the articles auto-post to social sites, but I have no followers yet - just get some activity out there. The articles aren't particularly keyword researched, they are just there to fill the site at the minute. Specific keyword articles will come down the line, as will optimising highly viewed pages. I have a handful of optimised articles from when I was doing MNS research that are in there too. When we have some activity on the site, that's when monetisation comes in... AdSense, CPA, Affiliates, as many different sources as I can. I had a long think about the site's niche, and as it's not aimed at tech-savvy young people, I'm gonna have more chance that they won't have adblocker installed and will be willing to click affiliate links and fill out surveys. Anyway, this is getting looooong now, and there's no option to hide a threadsaver, so I'm gonna stop wasting time here and get back to making the site. Bop! EDIT: OK, so I'm gonna be gay and structure my post with sub-headings. OCD much? Or been writing too many articles?
