Haha, I had to laugh at this crap from Shoemoney today. Please don't listen to this guy. That is... unless you want to laugh your ass off at stupidity.

    http://www.shoemoney.com/2011/02/02/monetizing-your-site-shoemoney-s-ep-19/

    WTF...
"95% of SEO is on page"

This is the type of crap that will completely throw off people from
finding good info. Most of his followers will hear "SEO is Dead..." and they
will abandon all hope. But they will also jump on board with Shoemoney's next
product or promotion because of how afraid they are.

And just so everyone knows... SEO is not dead. I just changes slightly from time to time.

Agreed. That is very low, and bad advice....and to think he has made 100's thousands using SEO....back in his ringtone site days.

That's exactly right! Bad advice from a guy who doesn't know wtf he's talking about. But he has thousands of people listening to him and believing him.

It's guys like Shoemoney that keep the newbie confusion model running at full throttle.

If you watched it you would have heard he said that SEO as we know it will change.

I think when he said "SEO is dead", that wasn't very smart. Just because it changes doesn't mean it is dead. I think he just phrased it wrong.

Basically he is saying you can scrap what you know about SEO now as it will be irrelevant in the future. SEO as we know it will just be simple start up procedure for any website.

What he's doing is link baiting people into commenting on his post. He wants to create controversy with experts while also drawing in newbies to thank him.

But he's doing more harm than good. he has so much pull in IM, that he is just hurting every single newbie who reads this crap.

He does have something of a point.

We're rapidly reaching the point where typical spam tricks won't work any more because the SEs are getting too good at filtering backlinks and they can use user behaviour shit that is exponentially harder to game than backlinks and simple onpage stuff. Of course the arms race continues but it will only get harder and harder. Look at the way that Bing is using mouse data to refine SE results - how is the average joe going to game that?

Eventually it will actually be easier to just put up good content, that people want to link to and which will go viral, than to spam for shitty backlinks.

I couldnt disagree more. Making a website with low bounce rate, multiple page views etc, can all be gamed VERY easy.

The problem with the progress of a perfect SEO algorithm is that you have to take into account both naturally ranking sites, those trying to rank and competitors of those trying to rank. Backlinks will be relevant for quite some time I gaurantee it

I like it because it makes the competition work harder.

I like Shoemoney because he was the first person to show me what is possible. Not tell me, but show me. Then I found out he was full of crap because everything he was telling you that works for him had changed, and he had been out of touch. Just like a Rockstar who comes up with his ear to the street and then when he gets famous doesn't know what's relevant and can't make a good album.

Now Shoemoney can make a .pdf on "How to turn silent Farts to Adsense Dollars", and it will sell out in 24 hrs. He doesn't know what it's like to be in the trenches therefore he's not qualified to give noobie advice. But that's doesn't stop him.

Dr. Phil and Oprah both make money giving tips on weight loss and their fat. That's why the money is in the list and the following.

    Cheers!

Lol who is this clueless dude? SEO has never worked in the way he claims is not working anymore except maybe in the altavista / hotbot days but during that time milk was more fun for me than the internet.

G made its money via a patented mathematical algorithm named PageRank which relies on backlinks, even a newbie should know how to check at least wikipedia. The expiration date is 20 years from filing, which seems to be Jan 9, 1998.

Whether a university is allowed to patent stuff indiscriminately is legally questionable but a court battle might take even longer than 20 years so it seems reasonable to just wait and see if the above method is still useful in 2018.

But hey, even the guys over at Bing are mailing him to tell him that he's right... imagine that.

and when you ask him about how much he spent to get that amount from adsense he wont discuss it.

Excellent con job he has going on there but unfortunately it works.

I'd trust that advice about as much as I'd trust a politician.

hehe, this is pure shit. just trying to mislead noobs maybe.

A real experienced SEO expert (who owns a SEO company in NY) told me that 70% of the seo depends on backlinks, and he's been doing shit for yearssss. He got some major clients and they all rank real good. SO I can bet he knows much more than SHOEMoney, atleast about SEO

He said it's 95% on page and......GETTING BACKLINKS.....watch the video. So basically, you just totally agreed with him.

I completely agree with the op that said it was linkbait to create a stir on his blog and get tons of comments. Lets face it I wouldn't mind having his money or his website so he does know what he is doing in terms of making money, and he's even started a pretty busy thread here in a blackhat site ;)

Yep, yahoo shows 6 inlinks already and it's been 'only' 6 days. We all know the old saying "A link a day will keep Google away". He sure knows his stuff lol.

Dropped my link there btw :D

He's really not wrong in his thinking, but he might be (is) really over dramatic with how he presents it. Of course he's doing that to generate buzz. Key phrase is "as we know it".
