Whan I was young, I worked as a sysadmin and servers remain a hobby of mine. So, while I rarely do reviews due to the time needed to do it properly, when MrJack asked me to do one on a testing server, I accepted.

Important note: In the hosting biz, reviews are highly dependent on the time & the node. Result can differ significantly at a future date (overselling) or a different node (other hardware). So my review applies for now and the node the testing vps is in.

    So, here's my review:

    Testing vps specs

    1. 4 cores
    2. 2GB ram
    3. 50GB disk

    Pluses:

    • Usually, hosting providers go with Xeon E5 cores, which are inferior to Xeon E3 cores, on per core performance. While that makes more financial sense for the host, as a consumer you're better off with E3 cores.
    • Network connectivity is good (shared GBit).
    • Great disk performance.
    • On the node this vps was in, I discovered that I had only 12 "neighbors". That means the node was not oversold.

    Cons:

    • Value for money is not the best, especially if you're familiar with the industry. That said, it is a decent price point for the average user, if you need all that bandwidth.

    Weird things:

    • I was not given access to a control panel for the VPS, just the ssh credentials, which is the first time I've ever encountered this from a host. So, I can't say anything about their control panel, what functionality is provides and how well that functionality works.
    • There is no info on the site about the claimed "100% uptime SLA" (service level agreement). The very least one can expect about an agreement is to be able to read it. An 100% SLA doesn't mean your server is going to be up 100% of the time, it means the host somehow holds actual responsibility if it's not up as per the agreement. What this really amounts to is defined in the agreement, which you can't read.
    • I laughed so hard on the site's ABOUT page where there is a glowing testimonial about the quality of service from one of my favorite musicans who happens to have been DEAD since 1904 ( https://i.imgur.com/YSDhVGt.png )
    • I asked for a Linux box with Ubuntu 14.04 (which is the current standard) but he was only able to provide Ubuntu 12. While not a big issue, it is weird because hosts get the OSs on "templates" and so I guess they haven't updated in quite a while. I have bought boxes from a lot of hosts and I don't remember encountering this before. Also, I wouldn't have been able to determine how many other VMs are on the node if they had an up to date OpenVZ installation.
    • As I mentioned, the CPU is good, so I find it weird they bumped the CPU claim to 3.9GHz instead of 3.7GHz which is the actual one.

    Overall:

A pretty decent offer. Good performance + good connectivity + nice bandwidth cap for an ok price.

As a general advice, always pay by the month when buying servers from a company you have not dealt with in the past especially during the summer period. One thing that is critical for the average user is the support levels he will receive when he needs it. This is something that can't be tested on a review and an extra reason to not commit to yearly payments.

    Thanks for the review jazzc.

Apparently one of our customers with the dead musician's name is still alive haha ^^
We offer multiple CPU's. All nodes do not have the same CPU, and the one you were on has a 4.1GHz turbo frequency.

Our prices are a bit higher than the industry but that is because of the premium service and SLA we offer.

Yes. 250 EUR with 400TB Bandwidth.

We only offer high-bandwidth servers so the pricing is higher because of that.

Root password was changed on my VPS, not by me and apprently not by them. I aksed for them to reset it but said they couldn't do it unless I paid 100€/h for support, then maybe they would be able to help.

For a business that claims they have higher prices to better service their clients I find this pathetic, if not extortion.

Currently in a paypal dispute with them.

    I know who you are.

Share all details if you are going to share any

This client made some changes on his OVZ VPS (with the kernel maybe? I'm not sure) that rendered our password reset module useless so he was unable to reset pass using the control panel. He was helped even though the server is unmanaged and offered a reinstall but since that would wipe out the data, he asked for support. We were not ready to support further free of cost so it had to be paid.

This 1 year + old client then decided to open a paypal dispute blaming us for 'not delivering server'. We won the dispute for obvious reasons and proof of fraud by this client.

I'll let everyone reading this be the judge of your misconduct.
