I'm a bit confused a bit the shipping costsbasically I'm getting quotes for a product with the exact same weight and size but some suppliers come up with a dhl charge $35 whereas others go to $65 etc. Are the higher ones ripping me off considering the packaging won't be much different (won't cost a lot either) ad the courier is dhl (I know some companies may get a discount rate but I don't know if it would be this high??) or are they trying to make a bit on top by breaking the cost down and putting it as shipping cost?

I would use any renowned shipping partners, even if they are bit costly.Just because to leave the headache of taxes and import duties.

If the carrier don't provide tracker, avoid it as well.

To my Knowledge, Shipping prices can vary when you ship out of China due to many of their inefficiencies in their logistics. For example, when the iPhone comes out the shipping companies & customs are busier shipping, so the prices become a bit higher. although, I have never heard of a 100% hike. It can be that your supplier is losing, or not making enough money. Some of the Chinese suppliers are sometimes willing to lose on small orders, in order to gain from your future big orders. If they feel a repeat small order, they would hike the prices on shipping to make up for the price they promised you on the product. (they can always say, thats what DHL charges us, they keep changing the prices)

go for the big ones like dhl, they cost a bit more but I didn't get charged anything from customs despite importing approx $4k worth of product - the allowed amount is $1k in Aus
