This is for accountability more than anything else.

$1,000 averaged out for each day in the week. This is before taxes and expenses. I expect once those are factored in for total income to be closer to $200,000. Still nothing to sneeze at.

I've got a ton of projects up in the air at any given time. Way more than someone holding down a full-time job and managing a household should. Too many eggs in too many baskets. 2018 is going to be the year I get them all lined up and turned into a smooth running machine.

After several years of running in the red, I have been fortunate in my internet marketing pursuits for the past few years. 2014 was almost a six figure year for our little family, and the past three years hit that mark relatively well.

I've changed a lot, learned a lot, made a ton of new contacts, and entered several new fields in that time period. Additionally, my full-time job income has increased by 48% since 2014, and my wife began a full-time job in the middle of 2017 as a surgeon (resident). These two alone put us above six figures a year, which from what I hear is not bad for a married couple in their twenties.

So, here are the projects/potential income streams I have going for me, along with a progress status of each one:
    • My full-time job. Good money, likely the highest single stream of income for 2018. Anticipating an alright bonus and raise in 2018, as well as continued usage of an employer match on the 401k.
    • My wife's full-time job. She also makes good money, but works 70-80 hour weeks.
    • My ORM firm. I've cut myself down to three clients currently from a lot more than that, and am looking at potentially taking on a fourth in the next few months if the price is right.
    • My SEO firm. I've got one client currently paying me monthly, and hope to gain another four in 2018 at a set monthly rate. Will start local, and only take non-local clients if they come to me (I've never had to search for clients or ask for referrals yet, believe it or not).
    • Content writing. I swear I've gotten more requests since I closed my writing thread than when it was open. This is a pretty good source of income, albeit time consuming. I am planning on relaunching a BST in early 2018 centered around subscription-based content, 100% hands off for buyers. Lucrative for customers, lucrative for me, keeps me from getting overextended with overdue words.
    • AdSense/Amazon Niche Sites. Seven of them, currently not making a dime. I'd love to get them making an average of $200 per month by the middle of the year. I'm having content written up for several of them now, and have some others working on overhauls. I will be stepping in soon as well.
    • Iceland Travel Site. I haven't stopped working on this, although it's been slow going for sure. Way slower than anticipated. The good news is that the Instagram I built for it has turned into a good success, closing in on 18k followers already through manual follow/unfollow. I hope to monetize this with ads, as well as affiliate links and custom itineraries.
    • Multiple Local Web Projects. These are all currently in the works. This includes a shared direct mail service, a local SEO service, a local business directory, a photography brand, a food truck site I'll build and then sell off as a one time thing, and a smaller local directory site for a particular shipping area.
    • Marijuana Directory Sites. I've got two of these with massive potential. I think at some point I will drop a few hundred a month for a few months and hire someone out to set up the directory aspect of these sites. The domains are solid and highly brandable.
    • Potential 2018 BST's. I'd love to do a very long ORM-based ebook or email based course. I've also got a well-managed private 60-site PBN that is being phased up to potentially run a la subscription for links.
    • Signature Links. This is more profitable than I realized, and will hopefully net a couple grand in 2018. Every dollar counts.
    • Dividends from Investments. This speaks for itself. It's not a ton right now, but again, every dollar counts.
    • Crypto Gains. Just kidding.
I anticipate more than a few of the above to fizzle our or fail. I'm about 20/20/60 currently, with 20% of my projects becoming wild successes, 20% failing and being pushed off, and 60% in "work in progress" purgatory. I'd love to get that 60% split between success and failure, making it a solid 50/50.

I'll be tracking all of this meticulously through Excel/Google Sheets and Personal Capital. From now until the end of the year is prep and organization. On January 1st, I hit the ground running.

I'd be happy to answer any questions anybody has. I also plan to update this once every month with a detailed breakdown of progress made, and once 2018 hits, monthly income summaries.

    $1,000 a day. Let's do it.

Really intriguing thread. Would be interested to know the time breakdown split across those projects. I wish you all the best.

I don't think Crypto gains will be 'just kidding' in 2018. Weeding out the the market volatility, there are some good problem solving cryptos that have potential to grow in value and real world usage.

Good luck with your journey. :)

That's pretty spot on for how it will be. As I've said several times, this is all temporary. Once she starts making that knock-down attending surgeon cash, I'll either do full-time IM or sell it all off and do full-time real job, depending on which is less likely to kill me before age 40.

I'm in reporting and analytics. Currently working a mid-level position at a multibillion dollar private company. Fell ass-backwards into this position, and I'm latching on.

I'll do my best to time track these once the New Year hits. That'd be interesting to see, statistics wise. Especially towards the end of the year to see which projects yielded the strongest return on the time spent. Good thinking!

    You know it, cuz!

I'm sure some alts will survive and thrive. Crypto gains will be "just kidding" for me, though. Unless something spectacular happens, I plan to stay out of that investment vehicle next year.

    Diversification!

    Nope.

Thanks to all for the luck and well wishes. I'll try not to abandon this one this time.

Just one quick question. Why focus on Amazon niche site and not aliexpress niche site? Aliexpress is doing very well over in Asia, Russia, Europe. Isn't it much easier to capture traffics from Asia, Russia as compared to focusing on USA or UK where competition is extremely tough? Apart from that Aliexpress pays higher than Amazon and is much more lax with their rules for marketing.

Another awesome thread and reading by my dude Sherbs.

I just do this in a personal document to myself right around this time every year as I plan for the coming year. Always good to do, to re-focus and appropriate where your efforts are going. Like the way you did this and I look forward to seeing your progress and you reaching your goal!
