Hey BHW. First time poster but been a member/lurker for many years. I felt now would be a great time for my 1st post as to provide some motivation for us all!
Yes you guys read that right! One of my friends has a friend that cleared over 1 million in sales within 9 minutes a couple nights ago through her Shopify store for a product launch. I've never seen anything like it because this girl isn't a celebrity or a big influencer. She only has 35k followers. Just a 20 year old girl that has slowly built up her brand.

What is it that she is selling? Well she's in an industry that I have assumed for years was over saturated and impossible to break into. SKINCARE! She makes and sells her own skincare products and has built up a loyal Instagram following and they were all waiting on her new skincare product to drop this week. Seems like she might of got a viral push through Instagram but we should all be motivated by this. It shows me that the key to long term and short term success with selling products on IG by way of Shopify is to build a loyal following and provide an excellent product that is unique and differentiates from your competitors. She built her brand up on a shoestring budget. The skincare and makeup niche is still alive and kicking. I need to convince my girl to jump in the game and make a product lol.

Yeah I just happened to notice that. Makes a big difference. I see now if I can reach 200K followers with a strong enough product I can put up big sales.

If a woman had $20 left to her name and had the choice to spend it on food or skincare/makeup then guess where that money is going to lol
 
It's not the first time. Her audience is 100% into her. She used to sell and close, create new product.. sell and close and so on. It's like the drop from all these skateboard brands (supreme, palace etc.) but for skincare. When you have a loyal audience and a great product it's easy to monetize.

This is definitely motivation for me because you're right. If they are loyal and engaged they will buy and 50K organic followers seems very attainable with the right product.

Get them on a subscription at even $10 per month and 2000 subscribers = $240,000 per year.

Well, she really deserved it tho
Her hard works paid off and she got a lot of loyal customers,
I think everyone has the same opportunity as her, as long as you work really hard to success like her

Like how do you build followers, do you just post about other skincare brands and give your opinions to help the audience? Or did she have her product from the start and promoted from day 1

I put her IG name in my original post but a moderator edited my post and took my entire last paragraph out that included her IG name. It was my first post so I didn't know it was against the rules to list a person's IG.

She sold it herself. She has her own warehouse where she stocks and ships the products.

From what I understand she has slowly built up her following over the past years and was making products during that time. My friend was buying from her when she only had 5,000 followers and was just starting out. I think why her most recent product launch was such a success is because she has been teasing the idea of dropping a new product for months and the teasing was very engaging. It's like when you know the new PlayStation 5 is coming soon or a new pair of Jordans is coming soon and you mark your calendars for the release date.
