OK, so I decided to try my hand at PPC to drive traffic to several e-mail 1st page submits. I used Yahoo Ads, and drove them to a poll. I got about 87 clicks, and yet, NO conversions.

I even had a friend fill out the e-mail submit and STILL got no commission.

Does this sound like shaving? Or is it just me not targeting traffic the right way. I used the Miss California controversy and the poll promised free iPhones. Can anybody shed some light? Thanks.

They are shaving, most email submits shave a lot and something you should stay away from.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I hate burning through PPC dollars and not seeing a ROI.

Stay away from PPC until you exhaust all other methods of free advertising in my book.

Email and zip submits have quite possible the HIGHEST rate of shaving for any type of lead. You should expect to have a good amount shaved pretty regularly, though may want to dump that particular offer and test a few others or change the offer and network entirely. But getting shaved is part of the game.

    Home Page:
email submit offers tend to suck on search, and yes the offer probably has a scrub, change networks. Its probably the network as a whole being scrubbed because of poor traffic. But PPC traffic is typically the worse traffic for email submit offers and will cause whatever offer you run to eventually get scrubbed.

Try something different, those Zwinky/Smiley/Webfetti offers pay well, sometimes better than email submits and its a download, you just cant send shit traffic or youll get cut off, and you cant do shady shit because its really ask/com behind those offers and no network will risk that client over some gray traffic

or try ringtone leads they arent to hard to get to convert

Yea unfortunately any zips or email submits you promote are going to be shaved heavily.
I have been in the same position as you, having all of my leads shaved.
May I ask what network this is happening to you with?
What I did, was simply switch network to one that didn't shave all of my leads.

Networks never shave all of your leads, just a percentage of them. There's a difference between shaving and not converting.

Shaving --> Knowing you got 500 leads and only 400 are reported.
Not converting--> Thousands of clicks (and high quality traffic) and still no conversions.

With under 100 clicks its a very small sample so it's hard to say.

Try turning on a proxy, clearing your cookies and see if its converting properly, if it is your campaigns probably just sucks and needs some fine tuning.

Personally I don't blame the networks for shaving I think its the advertiser / their tracking which shaves by default.

    Cheers

check the offer first manually, if they don't convert even manually, check another offer
