does it matter?
shared seems a fair bit cheaper, any reason to go with dedicated?
if your on a shared ip there might be a website on it which can bring down your search engine ranking and possibly get your ip banned by google
i think that volume wise, if you are building a 100 or 200
blog farm instead of 10-20 big earners, shared is a more cost efficient option.
who cares if one of your ips gets the hammer.
i have, however, switched all my important/white-hat sites to dedicated
cause there is too many bad neighbors around.
I'd got for an own server/vps
hxxp://www.serveraday.c0m/ seems to have some great deals. anyone has experience with them?
I generally depends on the number of blogs you're running. For large number of blogs you can opt for a shared ip, the costs are lower and even if several blogs get banned that's not really a big deal. However, if you focus on several cash-earners I'd advise to spend that additional money and buy a dedicated ip.
I am thinking if you are hostgator shared, and then a site has problem, big g is not going to penalize everyone on that IP.
This is how things should work (at least with the big shared hosts), but who knows if g is smart enough to do it this way.
I think on hostgator, ded. ip is $2 a month.
That´s the reason why I "hide" part of my feeder blogs on shared hosting accounts.
It´s cheap and banning the IP is impossible cause of all the unrelated sites on the same IP.
I am with blackhit. Use different themes (if WP) and if a reviewer sees 1000 domains on the same hostgator IP, they are not going to degrade/ban all 1,000 of them. So I think share IP is good, but different themes...
BUT leave no footprints, different themes, different everything (he he, and not the same adsense!)
