I have hosting at Hostgator and I just noticed theres some p0rn hosted on same IP as my sites. Is this a problem? 3 of my sites got recently hit by some kind of (-50) penalty, is there a chance that its because of this?

Yes that's the problem mate.. I have a same problem before and all my sites are hardly to climb up.. You can't rank your site if that's the situation!

Matt C has said previously that it's unlikely unless there's your site and 1000 other p?rn sites on the same IP. However if it was me I'd move them if they were valuable just to be sure!

Does hostgator allow porn? If it is against their tos I would report them first instead of moving my own sites.

This.....Honestly since most sites are on shared IP's it would make no sense for Google to punish 1000 good sites if just a couple on that IP were porn sites, just does not make a lot of sense. Having said that if you have a really valuable site why take the chance. Just one more reason to put your sites on your own vps or dedi.

Hostgator and most shared web hosting offer Dedicated IP option. If you think that is effecting your ranking get your own IP.

If it's within your budget, definitely pay the extra $1-$3 / month (price depends on your host) to get your account a dedicated IP.

My other newly purchased hosting does not allow gambling or adult sites, so even though its shared it sounds a lot better. Dont see why would I need dedicated IP atm?

Are you linking to any of the porn sites? If not I wouldn't sweat it too hard. Are we actually quoting Matt C did I stumble in WF by accident??

No, of course Im not linking to any porn sites.

What I was thinking is that its not a big deal for me to change hosting. Ive been planning it anyway since hostgator has US servers and Im targeting Europe. Im just not sure if theres some kind of negative effects when changing hosting provider what Im not aware of?

Wouldn't hurt to have server continuity to your geographic location particularly overseas. Are you hosing .uk tld's or .com domains?

Not UK, but yeah, my local TLD + some universal TLD's. Point is that my visitors are all from northern europe, so server response times would be better if servers are located somewhere in europe. I know its a minor thing, but hostgator have been bit laggy and now this adult site thingy. Just worried if theres something I havent considered that would affect my rankings if I move my site to another host?

Faster load time is a plus but are you trying to rank in G.com or G.co.uk? That would be my determining factor. G'luck
