I've set up a website for a particular musician (a fan site). I know that his management are hawks....and I fully expect an email and hassle from them.

    A couple of questions....

I havent done anything illegal on the site, but my domain name is very close to the official domain.

All the audio and images, and most of the text is simply streamed from other websites.

I setup the domain name (.com) with whois privacy.

Can anyone think of any legit hassle they could give me?

As a way of avoidance, could I transfer the domain name to someone in India where it might be very tricky for them to bring any sort of legal action.

    Thanks for any advice guys.

Well hosting it offshore + domain privacy means it will be hard(er) for them to find out who you are. However there is always a money trail unless you used VCC's and fake info. That's about the extent of the hassle. As you are not technically hosting content you don't own the rights too I can't see it being too much especially if they can't find your info easily.

Be careful how you build links and where the IP's originate from then you should be fine.

I shouldn't think it would be hard for them to track me down to be honest.... not hard at all. But I just wondered what they can actually do when I'm not hosting any content.... i.e can they stop me having a website about a musician because it ranks higher than the official site?
