Alright, this is my first post, and I sincerely hope it's in the right spot to ask this question. I am thinking about hiring out some people to post ads on Craigslist, Backpage, USFreeAds, etc.

How do I ensure they do the work they are being paid to do? I've not done this before and am relatively new to the IM realm. I could conceive of having upwards of a dozen people placing these ads. It would be nice to know what to look for from those who have done something similar.

I also would like to know the best way to give each of these people a link to use in the ad so I know who actually sent the traffic to my site. Perhaps even such that I would know which of the contractors placed the ad and what site it was placed on. For example, "Joe" places an ad on Craigslist and Backpage. I want to know which clicks came from which site and also that Joe is the one who did it.

I am not wanting to spend money on software to track this sort of thing. I want free even if it means a bit of record keeping on my part. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction.

Excel for the most part. Get them to send the URLs of the listing so you can verify.

As for tracking, you can add a query to the web request e.g. "?joe" and store it in a cookie

Hope that helps point you in the right direction.
