    Hi Guys,

A huge content site i've been working with is building a new site and wants to put the majority of content (long text content that is quite 'seminal' and popular) behind a login. They have 170k backlinks and receive around 25k sessions per month from referral traffic so it's a big chunk to mess up.

From an SEO perspective what i'm worried about is a high bounce rate and potentially search engines seeing the pop up login wall (even worse would be a redirect to the login page) and this hitting the trust/quality.

What seems to be common now (i.e. The Sun) is allowing you to see a bit of the article but not the full piece that then links you to the login page from the content. This seems the best way to me - the URL and at least some content stays the same and will reduce bounce rate the most.

Has anyone got experience/ideas with getting people to login to use content on site?

    Thanks!
