I work for a restaurant in my area and want to create a website for them and optimize it for keywords. I usually use Wordpress for all my blogs but I dont think it would work out well for a restaurant. What is the best method of doing something like this? Would some type of other platform work or is it better to start from scratch with a pre-made template?

I'm sure I can do this with Wordpress (Using the pages and static pages). What do you guys recommend/suggest I do? Also, let's assume the owner does not want to pay monthly for it but I rank for some good keywords. Should I call up local businesses?

You SHOULD use Wordpress, its the easiest for you and the restaurant owner to manage. You can even set up the restaurant owner with a Wordpress account that has limited access so that they can't break anything that is vital.

Wordpress has some great restaurant templates. Here is one off the top of my head but I'm sure there are others.

They may even have more (both WooThemes & ElegantThemes). You may even want to check Themeforest as well.

Chances are you will need to build links, I say chances because you may be in a small town and own the exact match domain in which case SEO isn't that hard. If not you'll want to buy a few services on here, which will help tremendously for rankings.

You should use WordPress. Get someone to design a custom theme, or do it yourself. I bought some software that allowed me to make my own WP themes and they worked out great.

Thanks man. Quick question: Take the kw 'pizza austin tx' for example. You see google places on top (homeslicepizza.com is #1) and austinspizza.com is #1 in the SERPs.

Which one should you be aiming for honestly? I've never dealt with Google places and from my knowledge, it requires more work since it is not just your regular backlinking strategy. In this case, should I just be doing SEO work to get my domain #1 or how should this be approached? Thank you for the help.

Are you asking whether you should be going for the top position in Google or number 2?

If thats your question, always be going for number one!

Sorry, I meanty which one are you supposed to work on. Do people look at the #1 for the businesses or the google places since they both are different URLs.

Anyone? Lets assume I want to optimize for "pizza austin texas". Do I do optimization like anything else or? Should I be focusing on that for a business?
