SERP rank only improved for 1 day then dropped off

I'm running a handful of campaigns to try and get an exact URL ranked for a handful of keywords. The challenge is that I don't own the URL (think Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, iTunes, etc) so I can't monitor anything on webmaster tools, can only use tools to monitor SERP rank and such.

Now here's my question, I wasn't ranked at all for most of the keywords and then after a few days in, I shot up to position #6 for one of my top keywords from literally like #294 (according to serpbook.com) and then the very next day, I was gone.

This particular URL is for an iOS app so it's an itunes.apple.com etc link. The app did update and the reviews/stars in the meta-data reset. Could this have knocked me out of the position? That's the only thing that I can think of that could have hurt me. A couple days later I noticed I had shot back up to #2, and then several hours later I was gone. All the charts I've seen here for keyword rank have always shown very linear progression, maybe a small dip, but never a complete drop off.

Even if I was flagged for doing some aggressive SEO, I doubt they could blacklist a top domain like itunes.apple.com

I'm relatively new in the field and appreciate any insight.

Its dancing, give it time to stop dancing. Looks like it will be in the top 5 when it stabilizes.

Check your exact anchor ratios. Make sure you keep them below 10%

    bro.

He clearly said it's an Apple.com page.

Apple isn't getting penalized by Google any time soon.

No problem, looks like I am in fact sticking right around #6 for my top keyword. Not bad. A couple people have called it the "Google Dance" very interesting.

If Your site is relatively new then your position will not be fix, This can be attributed to the fact that new site owners are generally in the process of building their search engine marketing plan

So one day it's there, one day it isn't lol. It's almost been a month. And this isn't a new site because it's an itunes.apple.com domain. Can anybody recommend any SEO packages that will stick? and have been tested with iTunes App Links.
