Hi,

I run a tech related website, which had rankings in the top 10 for a lot of keywords.

On one specific page, the primary, secondary and tertiary keywords ranked:

5, 16, 41

4 days ago.

Now, we are not found in the top 500 for all 3.

Any reason we suddenly dropped for only this page?

The other pages did their natural fluctuation and everything seems find, we even kept our top 1 rankings for some keywords.

No dupe content at all, totally unique.

Should I change the content just in case?

UPDATE: ran a copyscape check and it found my footer link roll as unique across my domains..

There is no dupe content.

Well...my next guess would be that you might of had a few high quality links drop off for whatever reason...

How can I confirm this? I have majestic if that helps

Update:

Our SERP is back to what it was.

I don't understand Google.

Maybe you happened to check when they were shuffling things around, it happens sometimes your site disappeared then i gets back to its ranking or higher..

if you have a rank tracking tool and graphs daily rankings then that can help determine why it happens. For example, if the graph looks like a heart rate monitor then that particular issue can be attributed to thin/duplicate content.

I use Market Samurai as a rank tracking tool. What do you use?

I guess, that was just Google dance...

Or probably, effect of personalized search results.

For the Searching - you can make sure you always check the same way...
* Logged out of G Accounts
* Opted out of Personal Search
* Use the same computer
* Use the same browser
* Use the same Search page
* Use the same Search settings

That should help reduce the likelyhood of "bias" interfering.

Make sure you are not logged in to your Gmail account when checking the position of serps. If you are logged in you might end up with a higher displayed rank when in reality you are in no man's land. G'luck
