Seriously, how do accounts get thousands of followers in days?

There are loads of monetized accounts that manage to get REAL and ACTIVE followers within months and sometimes even days after setting up their accounts.

    Lets look at an example...

The account unexpectedjlhad is a "bush did 9/11" twitter parody account which manages to earn a bit of money by selling TeeSpring shirts.

This account was set up in February 2015 and already has 225k+ followers. Now these can not be followers which were purchased because they are real and regularly interact if you look at each tweet.

Additionally, these were not gained by tweeting "great content" because the account only has 300 tweets.

Finally if we go back to the very first tweet of this account, we see that it has 4k+ real re tweets and favorites and a bunch of replies, so again, they aren't purchased.

This obviously means that somehow the owner was able to dump a massive amount of real and active followers as soon as it was set up... But how on earth is it possible to go from nothing to 225k+ followers in under 5 months? This isn't the only account who's done this, I can show loads of examples.

As a twitter marketer, i'm actually quite dying to find out how this is possible so does anyone have any suggestions that I can look into?

    thanks :)

They usually have bigger accounts eg. 500k and up, so they cross promote them through the already established ones.

They usually have "decks", which people link their accounts to it and they retweet whatever tweet they want off of each other...

I guess they own or co-own a ton of 1million follower accounts, lol. Either that or they found some sort of exploit.

His engagement should be a little higher than it is. If I had to take a guess i'd say about 25-30% of his followers are fake or inactive. Other reasons are mass following every day and doing what other said above.
