I for one think it's a pretty biased explanation: they do indeed cover the topic of PageRank - and why it shouldn't be used as the only metric (anymore) when assessing a page, but they also go on and on about "domain & page authority" which is calculated using their toolbar and proprietary algorithms.

The PageRank shouldn't be used as a sole metric anymore. I do agree to some extent it's a factor that's worth taken into account; serious link-builders should make a compromise and accept that PR should account, at this point, for only 5% of a pages value.

Other factors such as: outbound links, quality of the content on that page, domain related metrics (sheer volume of links, domain age, presence on social networks, rankings for high traffic volume keywords, original & quality content on most pages), and other external factors should be included in the process of deciding whether you want or not a link on that PR 0 page.

Just my 0.02c on the matter :)

Their PA / DA are some of the most useful metrics available to SEOs today...

That's just your point of view, to be honest - it's a decent metric but remember it's calculated using an algorithm based on assumptions (or how they like to put it - based on various collected data correlations).
