SEO virus

Hi all.

I'm working on a website, and there's a virus that has been created (not by me) on the name of my website.
There is some strength and therefore I don't want to just simply throw the domain away.

My natural thought process is disavowing the poisonous backlinks, and then 301 redirect the old domain to a new domain to preserve some of the strength.
Is this logical or should I cut and run and forget about the site asap?

Your question doesn't really make sense. A virus shares the name of your website? A virus is a computer program that has negative effects on the computer. This has nothing to do with poisonous backlinks and I don't quite understand the connection. Can you explain?

Depends if the virus is more popular than your site.
