Be careful with this one. Make sure the domain hasn't been blacklisted or have a negative rep.
I found this thread, while searching for how to do just this. Looking at a domain that is on auction, nice age, but can't find anything when I search link: or site: or site explorer. Is it possible that the domain was never used or is it definitely blacklisted, how do I know?

Not sure what you will use your domain for, but this site runs a check on your domainname and will report if it's listed in any of the databases around.

I won't be using it for email. More of an information/article blog monetized through adsense, cb and cj. It has all "OK" in green, so its good to go?
