Been struggling with this problem for a long time now. How does one plan a SEO strategy for celebrity photo/gossip sites? Trying to target impossibly difficult keywords like 'celebrity gossip' is unrealistic. And any long tail keywords seem to have really little traffic to make it worth targeting. And at the same time, trying to go for individual celebrity name keywords like 'Lindsay Lohan gossips' pretty much gives you nothing out of the thousand of celebrities out there and on the site. Do you guys have any suggestions or advice? Tks!

One of my prospects and I were discussing how to rank a celebrity photo gossip site last week. According to my prospect (who is a paparazzi in Los Angeles), the trick is to keep up with celebrity gossip on other more popular websites (or through social media) or generate the buzz yourself by taking these pictures. For example, if you follow Kristen Stewart and you discover she has a new lesbian lover that she visits in Banning, California, then you can sell the photos to an agency (who will help generate the buzz on social media sites) and then upload them to your own site immediately after and target long-tail keywords (e.g., "ashton kutcher and mila kunis baby pictures") that you believe that the agency will use on their sites (the submission forms on those celebrity photo agency sites usually have a section where their photographers can suggest keywords.

sorry, not so obvious to me. How wld you suggest going social media? Paid ads are definitely not feasible. And we've been sharing all our photos and posts, but there is almost no growth from our existing 8k+ followers....

Taking photos ourselves are out of the question as we don't have the resources or the expertise. Following gossips from other sites is usually what most similar sites do, but it doesn't quite answer the question on SEO.....

You are not doing it properly, definately you should not post everytime your link, provide some value to your follower and post quality post which has potential to share, No Ads? Dear you are also giving your time on seo so it also worth money, Nothing is free not seo even if you are doing it yourself.

Promote some post to get more traffic and with the help of quality post you can convert them in your regular reader.

rest is upto you keep fighting with big fish in search engine.
