seo question

ok so ive got a site on how to make money online lots of guides ect just wondering how long do you reckon it will take to rank high for the keyword "make money online" is there any better keywords to use? keywords ive researched dont really have high search volume ive feel like a dumb*** ive built a site and havent got good keywords to use for it...

Your trying to target a keyword with 182,000,000 results, it really isn't going to be very easy to rank highly in it. It all depends about how you promote keywords, I suggest you start trying to rank highly for less-searched terms, you can rank for these keywords from using link wheels and other methods similar to that, once you've built up a lot of small-traffic keywords, you should be getting a nice flow of traffic from Google, then you can start thinking about ranking for these much higher-traffic keywords. That's just my advice, it's better for your website/blog along with the fact your not going to spend months of time trying to rank for one keyword, when you could build 5 link wheels a day, rank for 5 new keywords each day and the traffic does really add up.

You'll be at it a while to compete for such an in demand keyword. You would be as well trying to focus on long tailed keywords and other keywords and phases that arent as competitive.

Put your efforts into this and you'd certainly better your success and your sites position over time, perhaps you can step up your efforts, but i wouldnt tackle such a keyword anyway, not saying that it cant be done, just very difficult and a lengthy process.

Have a read at some of the seo threads in the forum, you'll pick up some good tips.

Forget trying to rank for 'make money online'. Or 'working from home' either, unless you are planning on it very, very long term before you start making money online.
People have been at it for years and have a huge head start, and many of them carry authority as guru's

That's really not a money keyword anyhow. Drill down and get more specific.

Make money with online gambling
make money selling digital products online
how to sell shoes online

Just do some keyword research and go for the lesser searches first, ( at least 30 a day) when you have those keywords established, go for the next up and so on until you dominate an entire range within your niche.
Be sure to build links while doing this

Yeah that's a very competitive keyword and will take a long time to rank, if ever. Try to make the keyword phrase a little longer such as:

how to make money online
top tips on how to make money online
how to make money online while sleeping
make money online and fire your boss
make money online and fire your boss

Well, you get the idea. Just change it up a bit.

It will be very hard, but not impoissble...
I will advise to go for less competitive term first and se how it goes if you are new to this SEO stuff...
