    Seo links provider ads following me around via Google's content network ads. Have we come to the point where adwords make more business sense than seo?

    hate to say this, but looks like big G's winning the war. it used to be that seo was a loophole where we can put in a few $$$ and get returns of $$,$$$. looking at the cost of seo nowadays, it looks like i might need to take out one of those payday loans to fund a decent seo campaign with good ROI.

    i make most of my money offline anyway, and IM is just something i dabble in as a hobby. but for people who make their living online, i wouldn't want to be in their shoes right now. well, maybe those who depend on SEO anyway.

    i do hope us blackhatters continue to find ways to game google. i was hoping that the internet would forever be a place where no monopoly can exist. looks like that's not meant to be. A small minority are calling the shots on the web now. it's really sad to see.

    anyway, rant over. back to working on my sites

    IMHO the cost of doing SEO has increased manifolds, but its still best way to convert $$$ to $$$$ of returns. The ROI is still good, only the initial outlay is high nowadays.

    With Penguin updating after 1 year, there is still huge room for blackhatters to work, most of the people who redirected their penalised site to new site after last Penguin, got their rankings back and were mostly not hit till this update. So if Google is going to keep this long a time between Penguin, there is lots of scope to make money in between.

    So all in all both SEO & BH are alive and kickin

    I hope I don't move to adwords one day, so I am very careful about backlinks. If we watch all the major update in the last period, it's about backlinks spamming. They are not going to remove backlinks from ranking factors, otherwise they remove the sites which abuse backlinks.

    If you can do churn and burn correctly and rank for a day or two for a big time niche it would be worth it. Make a g-note in a day and move on to the next. But adwords looks a lot better now for some seo'ers IMO.....

    This is what Google wants. It wants people to get tired of their SEO methods and just pay the Adwords fee. If you focus on not building shitty links, leaving footprints, then you won't have to give up so easily.

    This just proves my point. G gets to call the shots on whether or not a link is "shitty". In the offline world, that kind of monopoly would've been broken up 2 penguins ago. A quick wikipedia search would get anyone up to speed on that.

    but G seem to be immune to this. It's like they're somehow allowed a monopoly. Imagine if you get to be the guy who decides which links are worth how much..

    mind blowing.. And not in a good way!

    blackhat alive and it will be, i don't call it as blackhat i call it as SEP, search engine promotion.

    Its all about getting traffic from search other than using Adwords/Paid PPC.

    Lets talk about from the very first update and think about the way we found, same as for now, We'll find the way very soon just let them win for few more days,

    Its like a cycle.

    We win => Google Wins
    then,
    Google Wins=> We Win
    Then
    We Win => Google wins

    And........to be continued..

    This will never end till Google ends or WWW Ends.

    My biggest issue with doing SEO was that once the Google hammer kept dropping heavier that it became a business that's difficult to scale. So I am actually a former SEO, was doing full-time and even hit top 10 rankings for really difficult searches like 'make money online' but when it became less predictable, I transitioned to paid traffic because it's more scalable. I also hated in SEO at time investing a lot of time and money to not get anything in return. With PPC I always get a return and some data to optimize for.

    It's not an easy transition, but having played both sides, it's more stable and scalable in PPC than it is in SEO.

    This is called remarketing. It is because you visited their site before and they are ad targeting you specifically.

    exactly. that's why you see seo providers starting to use ppc to advertise their services instead of ranking their sites no.1 for "seo service".

    yup, i know that. and it's cheaper more effective because it's "warm" traffic compared to "cold" paid traffic.

    the only people profiting big from seo now are hackers who inject their links on legit sites or guys who have reinvested in 10+ servers to dish out freak amounts of spam. even so called "low-med comp" keywords are not a sure bet anymore, and require copious amounts of testing.

    Why? Because GOOGLE SAID SO. I had a good laugh when doubleup ranked payday loans right after a huge update. hoping to see that happen again, though it's been a while since we've seen that.

    anyway, keep on keeping on, brothers. here's an article that i think might help us all get in the right frame of mind when it comes to beating Google:

    I'm kind of glad google pushed me to use PPC as another way to drive traffic to my sites. I may not use adwords (due to expensive CPC's) but other platforms that compete with adwords.

    Overall, google is not only the big giant out there when it comes to traffic sources. :)
