Hello, I have been reading and learned quite a bit on this forum over the last years. I am an experienced digital marketer with more than 10 years experience within affiliate marketing, SEO, Amazon FBA and e-mail marketing. My "main job" pays me about 6000 USD/month, and I am investing some of that money into an authority site that I am currently building up.

Disclaimer:

- This is not a "I am starting today to find a domain name, maybe write an article and see where it goes" journey. I did start the website about a year ago. This is how the organic traffic has developed between January 2019 and today:

organictraffic.png

- I will not give up. Most people that starts a journey say that, but I guess the average number of updates on this site is between 3 and 10. 99 % of projects slowly die without any success. This is not one of them, and I have the experience & budget to back that statement up.

Target:

- Get 25,000 unique visitors on my site, preferably before April 2020.

Why 25,000? Because that is what it takes for Mediavine to approve your website.

Methods:

- So far I have used the "Income school" approach on this website, only providing useful information and not done any link building. This will change. I will now start to buy one link per month through an agency (not on Blackhatworld). Each link will cost between 100 and 200 USD.

- All the writers that I have tried on BHW (and there`s been a lot) have been horrible. I even tried to purchase "premium content", but the text is simply not engaging. Looking into external companies that might provide me with useful information. I really care about the fact that every article on my website will provide the reader with well-written and good information that is presented in a user-friendly way.

Questions in the thread will probably be answered, but not too frequently as I have many projects and a quite busy life. :)

This is my first day on BHW (more precisely, the first post lol!) and I'm very intrigued to see where this leads to. One question: how many articles have you posted so far?

Okay, two questions... are you targeting low volume, low competition keywords?

Hehe, yep - I have been developing and flipping websites since 2008 actually. As side projects, I am mainly running Amazon FBA (70 % of my side income), but I was missing the SEO game, which is why I wanted to start this journey with full transparency to the BHW community.

Ooops, sorry! That was some key information that I forgot to add in the first post. 173 articles added.

Yes and no. Some pillar posts (3000 words+) are going after competitive keywords. But most of my posts are targeting low volume, low competition keywords. I do have an SEM rush account, but most of my keyword research is simply done by me sitting on Google.com trying to type in whatever springs to my mind. Then I analyze the top results and ask myself: "Can I provide better information than this? Do I have something better to offer?". If the answer is "no", I will move on to the next topic.

Can you snitch out the writers that do bad services? Have you tried backlinking and guestposting services?

I understand that you ask, but I rather not snitch out on someone. The only thing I would do is to mention that the quality has not been in correlation with the promises made.

Yes, I did try backlinking and guestposting services in the past (to another website). Turned out they were bad as well.

Saw a great active thread from a guy ranting about the level of linkbuilding services on BHW a couple of days ago, but could not find it now that I was looking for it. Im not saying that no one should buy these services, but I prefer to buy from other platforms as I have a higher budget. A good tip would be to see where that NichePursuits guy is buying his text + links. :)

All the best mate, I am in similar journey as well.

How long did it took you to reach here? How many posts so far? I think you only post info content ?

Wow! Those are quite a number of articles. Would you say the minimum word count you target is 1000? I'm curious because I'm kind of in the same journey myself. Creating a multi-niche site with main focus on ranking for a lot of low competition keywords.

About a year, 173, yes, only info content.

Would you say the minimum word count you target is 1000?

I will use the necessary amount of words to write a good article about the topic. But I would say that 80 % of the articles can be found in the range between 800 and 2000 words.

Today I have mapped out the whole plan for October.

7 articles will be written. 11 articles will be upgraded, meaning I will update them with new information and embedded Tweets/instagram posts/pictures. In addition to that, I will buy one high quality link.

You got me reading about mediavine

"However, I am now earning more per day from Mediavine than I would earn in an entire month with Google Adsense."

https://emmadrew.info/mediavine/

This is nuts. Do you have much experience with them? How can they be so much more profitable than Google AdSense?

I will do my updates in a different color. Guess that will help people to find my posts.

Traffic update:

Screenshot-1.png

September was my month so far in terms of organic traffic. If I can keep the same steady growth, I should be able to reach the 25,000 target in early 2020? Hopefully before the summer.

What have I done since last update?

After writing for more than three hours yesterday, I was able to add a lot of text to existing articles. Have you ever seen that the Income School guys are adding something called "relevant questions" in the end of their article? These are short, but very consice answers to long-tail phrases related to your article.

I was doing a lot of research to find questions that have not been answered, and added the question + a 200 word answer to a total of 11 articles. Some articles even got like 5 additional questions. This is something that has worked very well for me. But please guys, make 100 % sure that the questions are relevant and that no other authority site has answered them. If you still write the answer, you are just wasting your time.

Until next time:

Writing and publishing 8 new articles this month (keyword research already done) - and I will continue to improve some of my current articles to make sure they get some Google love.

In regards to a question about Mediavine: no, I have yet to try them. But I have read a lot of positive reviews. Will be interesting to see what kind of money I can get once I have implemented their ads on my site.

Got a list of 10 potential sites where I could purchase a link, in the price range of 150 USD - 500 USD. Will probably buy one of those to just test the market and see what effect it would have on my site.

Cheers.

UPDATE!

Had a very good couple of weeks in terms of organic traffic growth, which you can see below. When you play by the rules and publish great content on a user-friendly platform with a clean code, I guess all the Google updates will be in your favor. :)

updateorganictraffic-BHW.png

Since the last update, I have mainly focused on two things:

1) Written 5 high quality articles that I am publishing this week.

2) I have now found a link broker that I will test out. Will pay about 100 USD per link, so they should be of quite high quality.

I do have some (extremely poorly placed) Adsense ads on the website now, and I can already see that they start to generate some small income, which I guess is always nice. But nothing to talk about. Still aiming for my goal of 25,000 unique visitors per month, which looks more and more realistic in April 2020. :)

Keeping you posted. Feel free to comment or ask questions.

Very cool thread, just read through it all. Must say I'm quite curious about what your website is ;)

Hehe, thanks. I can't say anything that would reveal my website unfortunately.

Update:

Traffic keeps growing, and there is no doubt that this will be a new record month. Will post GA proof once the month has ended.

What I have done so far since last update:

- A total of 6 posts have been published in October. Will probably add a couple more, and the total number will be between 6 and 10.

- Posted 15 blog comments on relevant blogs. Not using the "great post!" type of comment, but writing at least 100 words on each comment. that helps to get approved.

- Bought a link from a service here on BHW. As it costed me 115 USD, I really hope it shows quality. In that case, I will continue to purchase links from this company.

- Income is sloly starting to wrap up, but it's not more than 0.5 - 2 USD/day through Adsense. Nothing to talk about really. :)

- Have updated 7 of my posts on my website that did not have any traffic at all. Changing the text, adding Youtube videos, adding Instagram/Twitter posts, pictures and changing the meta description. Will probably slowly but surely increase in traffic.

Stay tuned, boys. We have just started!
