This I am directing to those wandering what is going on presently with rankings. I have to divide this group into two:

Those that know what is going on and looking for new SEO perimeters to help with rankings (presently Google is very smart and on a killing spree)

And those that pretend to know by pedaling false information either as a hobby or profit center.

Do not build any more links and just concentrate on creating awesome contents - let me tell you why

Google figured out Seo tricks because of all the trillions of data they've collected. We educated them properly and after graduation, they're determined to eliminate at least over 50% of the current websites from the serps.

Some would scream that's a lie and some would scream, impossible! Here's why:

1- Google owns Google.com and like the owner of any real estate you're allowed to evict squatters when you're ready to deal with them.

2 - When you get organic traffic, the old metrics are now dead. Google controls the grid and they're determined to do as they please

3- The old ways of throwing up links like: blog networks, blog comment, web 2.0 links, twitter, facebook, amazon etc are now all less effective.

4 - To kill Seo, Google decided to eliminate all rankings metrics with constant updates determined to kill as many websites as possible.

5 - Yes they know some good websites would be caught in the updates and that collateral damage they're willing to live with until millions of websites are gone for good.

6- Google is in a battle with facebook, bing, twitter and all the other social networks. They now realize they send a huge amount of traffic to those networks through organic search and that they're determined to curtail or eliminate.

7- All the anti-trust cases would not matter as good legal minds would agree, they own the real estate and can do whatever they want with it. (just like you can with your website)

8- Some of you would say, but i send them lots of traffic and they have ads on my website. Right-now, your calculation is not part of Google game plan and your website might just be part of the collateral damage they can live with.

9- Some of you might say, but it is not fair! Google is a capitalist company and will push the envelope for more profits until a viable alternative emerges.

    What You Can Do:

1- All micro niche sites would eventually be eliminated (I lost some well positioned 20 to 40 pages sites). You can continue feeding them good contents and hope Google would relax the ranking perimeters. (I highly doubt that)

2- If you have a huge sites with awesome content, just continue to build good contents with end user interest in mind. You just might survive the purge

3 - Personally, I build no more links but if you must, do minimal bookmarks or some social signal links. Do know you're exposing your sites to Google penalties if you do build some links.

4 - Just so you know, Google has plans to render useless most SEO tools including so called SENUKE. They have workers in India and USA that use those tools and all they have to do is zap most of the sites used.

5- I have an idea what Google is trying to do, but I am still checking some data and soaking in information from knowledgeable sources privy to the game plan.

Some backlink providers might be mad with the truth and I urge any to prove there link building service would give you rankings. I am aware of false claims, fake reviews and false flag setups. My advise is to the people confused and thinking the same ranking perimeters still exists.

The Google onslaught is still going strong and please keep your head low and just wait for the coast to clear. Vent all you want, but the true facts and data from Google cannot be argued with. Goodluck to all!

Tks to OP for the view, but many factors of SEO do work dude. This is a pretty grim outlook - admittedly some points you have raised are true but SEO is alive and well and not going to end anytime soon.

Just had two more clients rank on the first page this morning for difficult keywords. Yup, it's dead alright. I appreciate you throwing in the towel. Now if I can get 100,000 other SEO people to do the same thing I will have it made.

Said it before, I'll say it again.

I will stop building links when they stop ranking my sites.

SEO is not dead, and never will be.

If anything, Google's ambition to kill SEO is a false flag. That is why they are doing so many updates and update variations, to confuse and frustrate webmasters into submission. Thus, causing panic so they will not rely on seo as much.

Ask is powered by Google. I have no idea how they managed to put that deal together without raising anti-trust issues.

Yes, Google is trying to make harder and harder for our sites to rank, because the people there hope we'll give up fighting for organic traffic and buy some traffic instead (through Adwords, of course). However, I don't think SEO is dead; as some of the above posters said, many SEO factors (both on and off page) do work.

There's a couple ways at looking at this. Either SEO is dead or monopolies are alive and well. I choose to believe the later...

OK. Let me put it like this. There is still a search engine. There are still results which are selected from that, to be ranked first. Just because YOU lost, doesn't mean SEO is dead. It simply meant that SOMEONE ELSE WON. Websites aren't being "purged". It is just that YOUR websites are being purged. Someone else is doing SEO better than you, and ranking better than you as a consequence.

As long as there is Google, there will always be SEO.

OP no matter how logical your post sound in your head it doesn't make it true.

Google doesn't care about you or your website. You see just one side of the iceberg which is our side. There is also another one, on the google forum with tons of people screaming because we outranked their website in "cheating".

Google logically cares about their users, but they don't want to wipe out our good websites, simply for the fact that bing / yahoo / Yandex aren't following them, and people would start to compare the drastically different results . That's why some EMD sticked around in spite of unatural backlinks, that's why even though they wiped out some websites with punitive updates they won't change the very core of their algorythm.

And here again those are just assumptions, doesn't make them real, but i'm closer to the truth than you are ;)
