So in my niche basically for every keyword I am targeting within the top 3 spots there is a EMD site ranking, or other bs one page site, also it's different EMD site for each keyword. This EMD site literally has 5-10 backlinks 1 page of content etc. I don't understand why these sites are ranking above me when I have between 5-10k back links, tons of quality hand written guest posts, press releases, you name it. My page also is optimized and has over 200 pages. Is Google just retarded or is this just maybe my niche has some algorithm issues? Why would a 1 page EMD site with 5-10 backlinks out rank my site that has 5-10k quality back links, on page is good, PR3, DA/PA 50+, Moz rank also 5+, 20x the content etc.

When I see that crap seems like SEO is too much of a unpredictable joke / waste of time.

To be honest, I don't think there is any such thing as an algorithmic problem for a certain niche or search term. Also, Google ranks pages not websites so it's not inconceivable for something like this to happen. I routinely outrank Wikipedia, Amazon, Ebay and ESPN for terms on individual pages. There could be a hundred reasons for this but if the specs on your site are true, stick with it. Sounds like over time you will naturally overtake those sites either through natural processes or another algo refresh.

I would hope so, these keywords are really low search volume as it is, but competitive. So not sure the value of it anymore but it's related to my business. I'm just not sure the benefit of SEO when crap sites easily out rank ones that have hundreds of dollars / hours of time etc invested in back links and other stuff. The other part is though, these shitty 1 page landers or 1 page default wordpress pages, not sure who would ever "convert" on those kind of websites. I know I wouldn't if I was looking for the type of services I offer.

You should understand that in todays SEO, the more isn't always equal to better. Aside from guest blog and press releases, do you have forum profiles links? do you have blog comment links?

    maybe it is over optimized

that being said, G ranking considers a lot of factors. Example is age, backlink profile and of course authority of the site.

Another thing you should look is, does the site above you has 301 redirect that is pointing to it. I have seen a lot of high ranking site that is only powered by redirects and a couple of links. though this kind of SEO does not last long but they do rank for some time.

If you don't mind, I'll take a look at your site.

Yeah I have a lot of blog comments, directories, some citations, hand made web 2.0s no forum profiles though. If anything it is probably under optimized compared to competitor back link anchors.

Well, I try not to advise dangerous link practices but if you can find a good PBN that's probably your best bet to overtake them. Google has gotten too good at devaluing shit links. Be careful the network you choose, especially in the BST section. There are some that are leaving a huge footprint. I've had to ask a number of services to remove the links to my site becasue they are so transparent. If you could get into BigBuddy's network that might work though.
