All the top spots in my niche are trusted by Etsy, Amazon and Pinterest.
I can't possibly compete with these guys. Shouldn't I focus on social networks trying to engage with prospects?

    Home Page:
    In a word....yes.

Or look for longtail related terms and target those.

If you are seeing something like amazon.com/[shop]/[product] then it might not be a bad idea to explore. Use seoprofiler and see how many links they have pointing to that one specific page. If it's not a lot it could mean that its just ranking bc their domain is strong but has no specific optimization for that keyword. In that case, you might have a good shot at outranking them.

Your question doesn't make sense. You are comparing social with SEO and asking which is better? How about both? Without knowing your budget, we can't give advice on which to choose first - if it's low start with social and then SEO. But then again, you can start with SEO as well by researching and targeting low-competition keywords at first. Also, Amazon can be beaten if their page is ranking due to Amazon's huge authority rather than relevance. Same thing with Etsy & Pinterest and they are actually way easier than Amazon. It all depends on your knowledge and budget!
