SEO for Medium articles

How many of you are doing SEO for their Medium articles?

I specifically mean link-building to those articles and not essentially keyword-rich content as this is obvious.

Thinking to put out +10 articles and building some links but not sure how feasible this idea is because I am not very familiar how Medium treats the articles from their end.

It's a noindex unless it's from a popular account or publication. However, this changes after 3 months of being noindex.

Are there any requirements/criteria for these "popular accounts" - Perhaps I can buy off from anyone who is posting there.

Nothing statistically solid, my personal account has 2k followers, I still wait for 3 months or less for the noindex tag to be removed. I just use it for publishing life lessons, nothing serious.

I guess, fame could be a role player.

Medium has changed its link policy so the outbound links from Medium don't have as much value as before.

With that said, the Medium platform has such a powerful domain authority that you can use it as a destination or website for your SEO efforts.

There are many high-value posts on Medium that get a lot of traffic from Google.

These link to more commercial content located outside of Medium.

This is a tremendous opportunity.

Sure, you're not passing link juice, but you don't need to if that specific piece of content you post on Medium gets enough traffic.

Think outside the box.

Look at the big picture.

Focus on the traffic potential of the Medium platform.

And depending on the niche that you are targeting, it may be worth pursuing.
