    hi guys, quick question

i've been doing some seo and getting some results. not much but enough for me to see the potential of this thing. i ranked a hobby site of mine and earn aroung $150 from it per month. i know, *yawn* right? still learning.

anyway, on to the question. i want to start generating leads for insurance locally. i'm sell insurance offline as an agent. my question is whether i should put up a one-pager or more of an authoritative site on insurance. anyone doing this? thanks

If your intent is to retain leads for years to come on the same website, then create something a bit more authoritative.

If you don't mind playing with multiple websites, then feel free to go with a 1 page and do some hardcore BH campaigns.

Each have their adv and disadv, choosing should be based on your business model and the way you want to go at it.

You could also do both. :)

That is nothing to sneeze at... you are working toward a goal and making progress.
A bigger site will rank better for you if you are doing SEO, if you are driving traffic a different way then you want a one page lander.

You are in the business so I would imagine you have a fair amount of knowledge... take advantage of that knowledge and build a nice sized site and get it ranked for a lot of KWs that are buying KWs local to the area in which you work... that would be a nice long term project that could pay off for years to come.

Build an authority site. There are so many advantages of bigger sites.

    - You will gain more leads. There are many long tail keywords you can target with secondary articles on other pages of your site.

    - You will rank faster. Authority sites are more trustworthy from Google's perspective.

    - Your site will be up and running for years.

    - It will appreciate in value just in case you decide to sell it in the future.

This! I'd go for the Churn&Burn approach first for some quick results. If everything works as expected and you'll get some new funds, I'd start a long-approach and authority plan.

i'm interested to see some examples of landing pages. can you point me to some info on that? if conversions are good then i might do ppc.. why not, right?

exactly what i was thinking. since it's local the kws are very low comp. i'm not too sure about the landing page. need to educate myself on that first.

i see people doing seo and monetizing using 'lead gen'. how does that work? do they put up a form on the LP for people to fill out? thanks guys i'm learning a lot.

This site has some good LPs. I've used them with some serious success on a few campaigns... serious in that my CTR was above 70%.

I have no affiliate with them, I just know that they have good stuff.

With the way rankings are shaping up I would build a multi-page authority site. But if you are doing PPC/banners then I'd create a more internet markety landing page for better conversions.
