I have a yellow page-ish directory which is currently doing the google dance.

My question is about ranking for keywords. I am building links for my main keywords in my domain, which has let me hit page 1 of google during the dance - but how do you recommend dealing with other keywords related to the businesses in the directory?

for example, lets say my website is OrlandoListings.com (just an example). I rank on the 1st page of google for the keywords "orlando listings". However, I also have thousands of businesses in my directory, everything from lawn mowers, to insurance companies to bars. Can i possibly rank for keywords related to these companies without spending tons of money buying backlinks with the related keywords for anchor text?

I am working an offline angle on the directory - my major concern is when approaching a (lawn mowing) business they say "well you may rank #1 on google for orlando listings, but you don't rank at all for orlando lawn mowers".

    any suggestions?

Make a folder for each location and a page for each buisness

Not by hand (That would take you forever, but im sure there is an automated Tool out there)

    So google would spider
    OrlandoListings.com/SouthBeach/Food/FastFood/JohnnysBurritoShack.html

And anyone searching South Beach Burritos would most likely get to your site
